I only go with impatiens, geraniums and petunias in planters on my porch.  I am partial to lillies and pansies in my barrel planters.

Our property is covered with wild violets, which has always been a true favorite.   When I was a child, I found a wild ladyslipper and a Jack-in-the-pulpit growing on our property, and thought they were the most beautiful flowers ever.

@fleetwood,    If you have a shady area (not full sun) Impatiens are beautiful.  There is virtually no work with them (no pinching, nothing).  You can mix red, white, pink together or red and orange or all one color.  Now if you have a really sunny area Geraniums are lovely with a vine either variegate or all green.  There are other interesting greens but I don't know the names off hand.  There is Grass that looks lovely in a container too.  Ask at the nursery for some ideas too.  I also grow tomatoes in a container on my deck.    Cat Very Happy.

For the last few years, I have been growing these  plants in my container garden.

multi-colored pansies in spring

red geraniums in spring/summer

black-eyed susans in summer/fall (cats-eyes)

Well... since I do not have a green thumb... and I do not have any Secret Admirers, I haven't been exposed to too many flowers.

I do like daffodils, however.

Peonies!  Love the fragrance and the big puffy flower.

Me too.  I just planted 5 roots in front of the cedar fence.

My other fav is my dinner plate size hibiscus.  I have 3 pink and 1 maroon.

This is a great thread.  I also have too many I love, but will narrow it down to lily-of-the- valley.  My favorites tend to be delicate, woodland type flowers.

Daffodils have always been my favourites. To me they are bright and cheerful and always take me back to my grandmother in England and her beautiful garden and flowers.

I'm easy, my favorites, are the violets that grow wild in the yard. The colors range from white to dark purple, I just love them.

My two very favorite flowers are gardenias and peonies.
