I am in my 70s and go to a senior center and use their machines, weights, etc, and take yoga and fitness classes. It's all free because the center is county funded.
I also have a smaller sized treadmill and elliptical for when I don't want to (or can't in nasty weather) go out.
My dog and I walk twice a day.
I still mow my huge yard (walking), garden, etc. It's my zen place.

Up until covid, I not only went to the gym, but took an extra class outside of the gym offer by the college. A dance class.
During Covid, I . did and still do, my exercise at home.
I have a gym size treadmill and bike in my garage. I do five miles a day on the bike and 2 miles a day on my treadmill.
I also do weights three times a week, and a Jane Fonda her older version of an acrobic dance class. on weekends, I do a yoga stretch class.
I live alone, so I have the time.
I started exercising at age 23 before they had stuff for women like classes or tapes. By the time I stopped jogging, I was doing 8 miles a day in my 70's.
I really think exercsing if you can is very important.
Age doesn't matter unless you have a medical condition that puts a stop to it, but you can always finds something or somepart of your body to do. even in a chair.
I firmly believe my exercising all these years, I started with Jack LaLaine and his belt and walking, has helped me to my current age and independent yet.
I am now 89 years young and still going strong. Do everything for myself.
I have had to change some of my routines, but never a day goes by that I don't do the above program I mentioned.
My friend that started with me years ago, is now 99 years old and of course cannot do it any longer, but walks a half mile every day with help. Point is, she is still moving and in good frame of mind for 99.
My point is, don't stop exercising, do something. I don't think I would be able to be strong and take care of myself if I did not exercise all these years.
Helps your mental attitude as well.
Today, I will clean leaves in my yard, and do some stuff in my garage, car windows and then my bike five miles and my treadmill two miles.
I do 60 miles a month on the bike and 40 miles a month on the treadmill.
My yoga routine is for anyone. Peggy Cappy, "Yoga for the rest of us".
It is for older people, age 50 and beyond, but a younger person that doesn't like the harder yoga can benefit from it.
So, my point is keep or start exercising, anything you can do.
The week before Covid, I was going to start a class for Seniors, visiting Senior retirement homes, but Covid put an end to that.

I have an elliptical at home...use it 5 days a week. I like it because it doesn't bother my knees the way walking does, plus my arms/upper body get a workout at the same time.
I live a 35 mile round trip from the nearest gym, and if I had to get up, get dressed, and drive somewhere every day to exercise, I'd just never do it.
Between the elliptical and housework, I get in about 3 miles a day--and have lost about 30 lbs. over the last 3 years. The weight loss started once I retired, and wasn't stressed and craving junk food, or going out to eat as much. When I got serious about using the eliiptical about a year ago, it really made a difference!

I live in a senior living complex that has a fitness center and fitness classes. I take many of the classes and walk a lot. I don’t use the equipment very often unless the weather is bad.

I recently joined a locally owned gym because they have a heated lap pool. I joined pretty much for the pool. I live in NE Florida and it does get cold here but the heated pool is perfect.
I can do what ever I want in the pool. I jump, walk, swim, float. It is relaxing. I have a rebounder at home. I have rebounded off and on for years. It is the exercise that I will stick too.
I may get into using the machines at the gym. They have a lot of classes, including water aerobics. I am still working though and those activities are during the day. Maybe in the future. I am not ready to retire.

No, I don't. I bike ride, in nice weather I bike outside, in bad weather I have a stationary bike. I listen to music when biking inside as it can be very boring!
When I retire next year, I will join the Y with hubby and go with him for free!!!

No only exercise at home, climb the stairs every morning up to my office and do more stair climbing during lunch and walking instead of eating. It is all free!!

Well I don't knpw abput anyone else but I'm exhausted just reading this.!! Bless you.
Keeps me going. My Dr. wanted me to talk to people, especially older ones.
Exercise to me is like eating. Something I need to do. I also like to do. My body would rebel if I didn't and depression would set in.
I have plenty of energy and time. Yet, when I was working, I went to the gym after work before going home.
My kids were all gone, married. It's a way of life for me. Im 89 and take care of a four bedroom house, two yards , run errands etc.
I think it's because of exercise, i am strong, mentally and phycially.
Use it or lose it. Ha, a little humor.
