Re: Do you fly the flag on the 4th of July

[ Edited ]
Little one's always out there, and the 9/11 one, on holidays...
Change of plans....my husband wants celebratory flags as decorations rather than the memorial flag with the names of the dead, for the 4th

We fly the flag all the tine - it is lit up at night with a flood.  We also fly DH's Marine Corps flag underneath the American flag.  He was a Marine in WWII in the Pacific Theater, and has had this flag since he returned home. He's past his mid 90's now, but he still feels the pride of having served his country.

We fly our flag 365 days, not just on holidays!

My husband (retired USAF) has a flag in a glass case that was flown over the US Capitol that was given to him by his Squadron!

BTW Cherry, what made you come out of "hiding" after all this time???Smiley Surprised

No. Our HOA rules forbid ANY flags or banners of any kind at any time. We can put a small decoration, such as a wreath, on our front doors but that's it. People have to agree to follow the rules when they purchase/move in to the complex and while there have been some complaints and attempts to change the rule, the vote has always failed.

Re: Do you fly the flag on the 4th of July

As I said on another thread of this subject, DH and I have flown the American flag every day since September 11, 2001.

Re: Do you fly the flag on the 4th of July

Yes we fly the American flag for the 4th weekend, Memorial Day weekend, Flag Day, the list goes on.

It is not on a flag pole that people have in their yards, but it hangs from our porch on a flag hook. Thus it is not out year round (we change flags), but it is out for patriotic type holidays.

Also- we bring ours in at night and in rain. Our neighbors let them out in the dark and rain, which is wrong. (And its very dark here at night, and they dont have a light on the flags!).

Why is it wrong, Shorty? Rockets red glare, bombs bursting in air, gave proof through the night, that our flag was still there.......

How sad for you and your neighbors that such a rule was made!  I don't think I would want to live there any longer!   GOD BLESS AMERICA!!  MAY WE REMAIN THE LAND OF THE FREE!!
