Thanks, PQ--I will go and look. I really want a Blythe some day, maybe when I win the lottery.

I don't display my dolls but Blythe I would have to commune with for a while, I think.

My friend told me once that Patti P. got her through a very tough time during her parents' divorce when she was shipped over to grandparents who were a bit miffed at the sudden responsibility. She is about the size of a real 3 or 4 year old, and a new style of early 60s doll, American in look rather than fashioned on the "dolly" faces of the great German dolls.

She looks like an American preschooler, with long straight blonde hair, very 1960s. I had stopped playing with dolls when she came along but this is one of the great US dolls.

Like Blythe, she has her own bestselling book.

She is cute!

No room for her in my tiny apartment though lol

I just saw a comercial for her on youtube.

Yes, I have dolls. My Mother was a collector of antique dolls from the 1800's. Most are either French or German. I also have some limited edition Zaph and Zawieruszynski that I purchased. Some I lost in the fire, but many were in a room that wasn't totally burned. My mother made all the beautiful clothing for the antique ones, so they have special meaning to me.

I think you mean Zapf? They are beautiful, the other too hard to spell to look at them.

my edit I used to subscribe to a big sized magazine, in the eighties, called "Dolls". In it were those 1800 dolls and many other limited editions. My mistake was to give them away to to a ten year old little girl, LOL I wish I had them. I have a lot of "Barbie" magazines from then too, fun to read as it is all changed now.

How sad to lose part of that beautiful collection>{#emotions_dlg.sad}

LOL. Yes I did mean to type Zapf. Thanks.

And yes, it was hard to lose some of them (My Mom's). Bad as a fire is, it teaches you what is really important in life, and what isn't. It's the "sentimental stuff" that really gets to you. Your photos, birth certificates with tiny footprints on them, Mom's dolls, things like that. Most everything else is just stuff, and is replaceable, and a house can be built back...

After the fire was out, one of the fire fighters overheard me say "well, Mom's dolls are gone" and a few minutes later here comes a line of FF's, each carrying dolls. FF's are amazing people.

I loved the Boyd's Dolls because they came with bears and little adorable accessories. Up until the last designer, they had gorgeous faces. I collected several when my only daughter was little and had them in her room. Now they are on a shelf in her closet.

I have a few of them but not many. I have a lot of porcelain ones though. I was looking to put them on ebay and get rid of them, but I dont really see a whole lot of this kind of stuff selling.
