Re: Do they still make those large chocolate Easter eggs?

When I saw the "Mary Sue" brand name of Easter eggs, it brought back many memories of my childhood.  I grew up in South Jersey and my Dad owned a store in Bellmawr called The Oasis Variety Store.  He had a candy case and sold the Mary Sue buttercreams in vanilla and chocolate.  At Easter, he sold the Coconut Creme eggs.  They were my favorite candies in the dark chocolate.  Delicious!  We moved to So. Ca. when I was in Jr. High and could not find them anywhere.  How I miss them.  Have one for me!!!

@sunshine45 - Channel 45 did a live broadcast from 'the factory' on Friday.  I wish I had the segment where they actually prepared the inside.  I have girlfriends who do make those eggs - just in small quanities because they are a lot of work ... trying not to eat the inside contents that is.

Do you remember Gabrielle from channel 45 ?

Re: Do they still make those large chocolate Easter eggs?

There used to be SO many more Easter candy options... Must be 'progress'... I was also surprised that several of the local stores had not marked Easter candy down today. One told me it's been marked down intermittently until today and would go back down tomorrow... This was late in the afternoon, when, let's face it, the Easter Basket ship had pretty much sailed...

I used to love the Mary Sue candies... Seemed, though, that the last time I got them they were more sugary and less rich and creamy than they used to be... Who knows, maybe it was me...

Re: Do they still make those large chocolate Easter eggs?

My Grandmother sold those Easter eggs in her general store. I remember people would come into the store and have their kids names written on them in frosting. Also the milk choc. eggs that came in two pieces and my Gram decorated the top part and she would put tiny foiled eggs in side.
