I think with all the fleece and flannel sheets not people don't feel the need of a blanket. They may use a comforter instead as it can often double as a spread. But to not know what a blanket is? That does seem odd.

Live up here for awhile! You'll need and use them all at once!

I just washed an all cotton blanket from JCP that is still shedding after about 15 washes. Made in India kwap. Needless to say I'm done with them.

Re: Do they not make blankets anymore

Thanks everyone. I ended up at Cosco where I got a nice lightweight blanket for a reasonable price. I do find it odd that people don't know what a blanket is anymore though. How can you go through your entire life and not know what a blanket is beyond me.

Most folks now a days use a quilt or a comforter. Some like fleece blankets though. I got one last spring at Target.

I had the same issue last year when I downsized from a king bed to a queen and needed to purchase all new linens. I ordered a great blanket from The Company Store online. It was a bit more but I was pleased with the choices & quality.

Re: Do they not make blankets anymore

I use a fleece blanket in the winter and a fleece sheet as a lightweight blanket with the AC in the summer. I use a quilt as a bedspread and pull it up if I need more warmth. That's about all I need here where extremely cold temps are rare.

I hear you. The only way they are going to get my old (we are talking wedding present), heavy, 100% wool, blankets away from me is to pull them from my cold, dead hands. Not sure you can even find them anymore.

I've seen a few of them lately, in specialty type stores. I'm pretty sure LL Bean had one too. Probably won't get any warmer than those. I keep saying I'm going to get one someday.

Re: Do they not make blankets anymore

I haven't had too much trouble finding blankets but I object to how they are sized. They are no longer twin, full, queen and king. I have an antique full sized bed that I keep a designer coverlet on as a spread. The blankets are now sized full/queen. There's no way to use this size under a full coverlet without tucking/hiding the one side a foot or more under the mattress. Since I sleep in the bed alone, I would buy a twin size if I could remember it when I buying. Making the bed is truly a pain.
