I ordered a bra and Gold Toe Socks from Macys and received them in the same package, I have paid the bill for them. Yesterday I received the socks, they were the same exact ones I ordered, I wasn't billed for them. This was an error on Macys part, am I a goody goody for thinking I should return the socks? I'm not going right away with the Christmas rush return.

@Jordan2.  If you want to return them, call and explain the error and tell them you'll return if they'll send a pre-paid shipping label.  I bet they'll tell you to just keep them.

I certainly wouldn't go to any trouble for them.

I would be definitely returning them. And like yourself, I would wait until the return folks get done with the rush to return.

Something similar happened to me. I ended up donating the duplicate item to someone who needed it.

@Jordan2 Reminds me of something that happened when my 30 year old GD was about 14. We were at the mall just looking around and went into a medium sized jewelry store, not part of a chain.

She saw a bracelet she liked, it was only around $8 and tried it on to see how she'd like it. We walked around browsing at other things and left the store, COMPLETELY forgetting she still had it on.

I took her home and was talking to my DIL and decided to call the store and tell them what happened and that we would be right back to pay for the item. The mall was only about 10 minutes away.

I spoke to the manager who didn't seem bothered and said "Ah just keep it." I was so surprised. About 8 months later they were out of business! I think my GD ended up giving it away.

I agree with the suggestion to call, explain the double shipment and request a prepaid label so you can return them. It's then their choice.

Call and get a label to return them.  It would not be right to keep something you didn't pay for.

Please wait a bit. You might find that you are billed for the socks on your next bill from Macy's.

My husband was a runner and he bought a jacket and pants designed for running in the rain. It was expensive. Somehow 2 separate pants and jackets were sent. One was the wrong size. Since he only had paperwork for one set of pants and jacket and it said a different size, he hand wrote a note explaining why he returned the wrong size pants and jacket.

Well, when the company received the return since there was no company paperwork, they must have not made any notation that they received the return.

Somewhere along the way they discovered that they originally sent 2 sets of pants and jackets. So they billed my husband for the 1 additional set. He explained that he returned it. They had no record of the return.

There were alot of letters and phone calls (It was expensive). And it ended up that my husband could no longer order from that company again. Because they had no record of his return.

@Jordan2 So if you wait a bit, maybe Macy's will bill you for the second set of socks.

I just had the same thing happen with Harry and David.

Placed an order early this month, slow to ship but arrived just fine. I get an email from FedEx a few days ago, same order number, same products, arriving overnight.

I call Harry and David. Their outsourced CSR could only offer that someone placed the exact same order and sent it to me ! 😑

I left a note for FedEx, refused, return to sender. Never placed the order.

A bit more expensive than socks, I didn't want to get billed twice.
