Childish ... yes. I could care less who wears what brand or non-brand as long as I like the item.

Childish ? Not in my opinion.

I don't think it's childish but it's a sales tactic that some may fall for. They want you to think the product is a must have because unnamed famous people use it. It means nothing to me. If I like and want something I will buy it and I don't care about all that nonsense.

It's ridiculous, but some people "eat it up!"

I think it speaks to the fact that some people think that who they know would make a difference to the audience they are speaking to. Many people know someone that is semi-famous or outright famous. Telling people about it isn't childish....it just makes them look insecure and in desperate need of making an impression. I consider that impression unfavorable because I have known a lot of those sorts through my lifetime and find them not childish but a ""bore.""

i myself would agree with all you say, serenity. name dropping it is. It is more a pretentious practice than childish. in my belief and experience that is. (-:

I don't think it's childish, either. It's not something children usually do.
I agree with Q_spirit... childish, no, pretentious, yes.

QVC is good at selling things. The techniques they use are not spontaneous. They have been time-tested.
I don't buy something b/c a celebrity might endorse it but plenty of hesitant customers will. Silly to think they allow sales people to employ tactics that work with no-one.
No sales tactic works with everyone. That is why the presentations are so long.
