Re: Do You Think Halloween Will Be Cancelled

I'd rather have kids outside in the fresh air trick-or-treating rather than inside at house parties.  You can easily socially distance outside.

We get very few kids anymore in my neighborhood but if my city does decide to go forward, I will pass out candy.  I generally stand on my front porch and kids come up my walkway and I lean down the 2 steps and drop the candy inside their bucket.  I wouldn't be close to them and they wouldn't be close to me.  I would wear a mask though.

So Governor Cuomo (New York) isn't cancelling trick or treating, I guess I'll go out tomorrow and buy some candy!

If not it should be.  I am not participating.

I have already decided that I'm not going to participate in trick-or-treating this year.  Just not comfortable.

@Krimpette We haven't in a couple of years for that very reason and will never again.

It used to be neighborhood kids, now it is busloads of people, vans, trucks etc. you don't know and kids running around all over the place.  I am surprised someone hasn't gotten run over before now.

I think it is a tradition that has outlived it's time.

I'm assuming the state/cities will decide individually but that doesn't mean it wouldn't happen. We never get anyone here since we don't live in a neighborhood anyway.

I am avoiding children during this pandemic after hearing what I heard on the news.  Will not be answering my door.

I was watching the news today, they did a story that the CDC doesn't think it's a good idea having children go trick or treating. I'm thinking that maybe I shouldn't buy any candy to give away, I'm undecided as to what I'll do.

Not on QVC. Not only are they hyping Halloween but they're hyping Christmas too---3 months early. And this is AFTER Christmas in July!

Re: Do You Think Halloween Will Be Cancelled

I have decided to leave a bowl of candy on my porch and if kids come trick or treating they can help themselves.

He said he won't cancel trick or treating, but he will provide guidelines as the time gets closer.  He also said parents will have to decide for themselves.

I am absolutely not opening my door to trick-or-treaters.  Many young children are accompanied by parents, and even children can be carriers.  I might leave a bowl of individually-wrapped Milky Ways or something of that sort outside my door, but I will not be opening the door.  The last thing I want to encourage or be a part of is a bunch of people from various homes all crowded together.
