Do You Think CC Are Necessary For Good Credit Rating?

If you have a mortgage that you pay on time, maybe car payment always on time. Do utilities show up for credit rating?

I got rid of all my credit cards and am just using cash or debit. It's a great feeling. I don't think credit cards are necessary but what are your thoughts?
