to me the smell of Herbal Essence is intoxicating. I love it. Haven't smelled it in years.  But I love that clean, green smell.

My grandpa always had Prell (I thought it was in a tube). My favorites were Herbal Essence and Protein 21.

@AuntG  it did come in a tube!   I think it was Prell Comcentrate.  A small amount washed your hair.

I use Prell to this day!  You can still buy it in most supermarkets around here as well as Walgreens and CVS.

The tube (concentrate) formula was discontinued when Procter and Gamble sold the brand back in the 90s. The tube variety always smelled even better than the bottle version to me.  I once called the 800 number for Procter and Gamble and told them they were missing the boat with Prell.  They should have made an entire line of products with that amazing Prell smell!  Soap, lotion, body wash, body mist...the works.

I think the scent is about 90% the same, but I have a theory that when legacy brands are sold there is almost always some minor alteration to the original formula.  (British Sterling cologne, Prell, etc...)

I still use British Sterling but it is only a shadow of the 60s-70s Speidel version.  I would dearly love for Coty to bring back "Pub" cologne for men. That was the bomb.

A college roommate was living in Scotland in the 1970's.  When I went to visit her, I brought a bottle (or tube, don't remember) of her precious Prell.

They still sell Prell. I bought some a few years ago to use when I wanted to try to get my hair color to fade. It helped.

When I was young, the only shampoo I remember us using was Prell.  The little neighborhood store carried this and it was the only one they had.  It was cheap also and I loved the pearl in the bottle.

I was recently at Big Lots and they had small tubes of what they were calling Prell, so I bought one.  I don't know if it is the true Prell formula though.  I haven't tried it yet.

UPDATE:

I just very briefly checked, and, yes.......Amazon offers White Rain in various scents and also green Prell.

Seems as though good prices when bought in three's.  I always check: Delivered by Amazon.

I'll take a better look later.

@ROMARY I've been thinking about Prell, now I want to purchase some. Price is great too compared to a lot of pricey shampoos out there which I have purchased.

Re: Do You Remember?

[ Edited ]

I remember all those shampoos. I never used Prell but my husband did at the time that I met him.  Forgot all about that.

"Come to think about it", way, way back, in those days, my long brown hair was very, very clean and shiny and healthy looking using green Prell Shampoo !

I don't know why I stopped using it..........
