@EnufstuffStill have my Terri Lee and had her little baby sister, Linda.
Also Sparkle Plenty and Bonnie Braids. I loved all my dolls and thanks to my Mom kept my Terri Lee in tact.

@Toots711 Me too. When I was growing up after school we would stop for french fries. Our Woolworth only had a counter for serving food. It was a fun store to look around in but you could always find something interesting.

I grew up in with my siblings and cousins. This video tonight was very poignant and nostalgic for me especially at this time.
I just learned that my cousin who I was very close to passed away during the hurricane in Punta Gorda, Florida, just the day after his birthday.
After serving as Fire Chief in our city, he retired to Florida.
We would always talk about the times when we were growing up.
He would have loved that 50's video.

Oh.. @Enufstuff I'm sad to hear about your cousin. Horrible Hurricane Ian :-(

I am also sorry to hear about your cousin’s passing. I am sure you two shared many happy memories. All my best.

I remember as a little girl going shopping with my mother the next town over in their shopping district. We'd take public transportation (bus) which cost 15 cents each way. We'd always "do lunch" at Woolworths. I always got a hamburger.

We bought 2 parakeets for a few bucks each. Toby and Patches. They lived for decades it seems, well, not that long. But they had a good life. They were just a couple of bucks each.
I don't remember anything else about Woolworth's though. Other than the birds were downstairs.....Kids knew exactly where to go.....
Oh my gosh--I have exactly the same memories of Woolworth's downtown Minneapolis. As I recall the soda fountain counter was located on the lower level and the parakeets were tucked away in the corner. I never wanted a parakeet, but for some reason I always visited them--I found their lime green and turquoise feathers fascinating.

@sugarbee I got a Bonnie Braids doll for Christmas when I was three. If I remember correctly, she was supposed to be a baby from the D*ck Tracy comics. She had two little blond braids sticking out of the top of her head and two little teeth. She came with a little toothbrush and a small tube of Ipana toothpaste.
I don't remember what happened to my doll. Maybe it was given away when I got older.

I was born in 1955. I never did go to a woolworths store in the Seattle WA area growing up... BUT>>>>My Mother did take me to Fredrick and Nelsons where they had a real nice restaurant in the store .. I had fancy squares of red jello topped with whipped cream and served in a fancy clear crystal dish... it was my favorite thing besides their tuna sandwiches and their Club House sandwiches too!
