Usually, I feel younger than my age (60). I’m very physically active. Today, I was in a car accident and was going to refuse medical treatment. The EMT’s noted the damage to my car and said it looked bad and I should get into the ambulance for assessment.
I did this, and they found an injury to my hand and also noted that my BP was very high. We then had a discussion about what hospital I should go to. I chose the nearest one, but they wanted me to go to one about 30miles away, since it was a regional trauma center. They sad that would be better for someone my age!
I went to the local hospital, where they had me get off the stretcher and walk down the hall for my X-ray. Then they sent me on my way.

I could work 40/50 hrs. a week, clean the house, get groceries, work in the yard til dark on Saturday. Sundays were running errands or traveling 4 hrs. roundtrip to see family. I was good to go.. Now it takes me twice as long to do half as much. I hate it.
Are you my twin???? Sounds just like me --- LOL! I was just lamenting the same exact thing. I have been trying to go through closets, etc. and it's like pulling teeth. I get so disgusted. I can only go at it for a short period of time and then I just get exhausted.
What is that old saying --- the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak? Something like that I think. I, too, recall, back a few years I used to go like a house on fire! Work all day and come home and clean the whole house and not stop until everything was spotless!!!!

I have been extremely active my whole life and I do all of my own cleaning, groceries, car care, 5 grandkids, many hobbies, etc. Its like all of a sudden I cant hardly go. My health is good except back pain. My DH is getting ready to retire this year and I need to be able to get my strength back but Im just tired. Also I have noticed a huge difference in my vision this year and I hate that.

@Junker2327 You may have cataracts. DH had his left eye cataract removed about 3 weeks ago and will have the right eye surgery this coming Tuesday. He can see much better having one done. Please have your eyes checked. Medicare and sup took care of everything except $185.

Two years ago I was on my hands and knees painting the baseboards in the kitchen and den. I also painted the kitchen cabinets. But now I can’t get on the floor without help.
DH and I are both 65 so I shouldn’t feel this old yet?
I got down on the floor without a problem yesterday to clean and straighten the cabinet under the kitchen sink. It was getting up when I was finished that I had trouble with.
@DearPrudence I've taken to using a stool to sit on for anything in lower kitchen cabinets. Even so it's become hard to grip the countertop and haul my butt upright again. Between the knees and the loss of arm strength, geez. In the living room/bedrooms once I'm on my knees I have to crawl to a chair or the sofa or the bed to haul my sorry butt up. Seems like just yesterday I could bounce right back up with no problem.
And I just came back to add......it's all accompanied by grunts and groans.

@CrazyKittyLvr2 , have you gotten down on all 4's and realize you need to use something solid to hold onto, as you get to your feet? One day, it was no problem, next day, that world changed! 70's have not been very cooperative for me. I do feel this age now.

I am 68 too and yes I cannot do as much as I used to do. I think I am so out of shape and lazy since nothing really is demanding. Since retiring there is no schedule and I do too much sitting and lying down. When I try to do a lot in one day I am exhausted and hurt all over. I can be fine one day and next get out of bed the next with pains I don't know where they came from.

@qualitygal I know you weren't speaking to me but that is EXACTLY what happened to me. One day I felt 40 and the next day I was 100.....it seemed anyway. I don't know how I'm ever going to plant any flowers this year. Unless I wait for a neighbor to come home and help me get back up.

@qualitygal Oh no, I'm only getting on the floor if I fall down. Actually, I slid off the seat of my walker a couple of weeks ago. I didn't sit back far enough and it started rolling, with all my weight toward the edge of the seat I was unceremonously dumped on my backside. DH picked up my walker which had fallen over, locked the brake and I got up.It was not a pretty sight. Funny, but not pretty. I miss cleaning my floor on my hands and knees.
