The only bills we pay by check are those that are handed to us by someone standing there and who wants a check. Otherwise, we pay all bills on-line through our bank's on-line bill pay system. We tell them when we want the payee to receive the payment (some are electronic transfers while others are actual check) and they do the rest. We get an imediate on-line confirmation number to show that they've got it in their pipeline.

He asked that we pay our bills the old fashioned way. They come in the mail, we write a check. I was fine with it. So that's what we do.
We also still get hard copy bank statements mailed to us. Clark Howard recommended that people start getting them again a little more than a year ago I think. We never stopped getting them.
@gidgetgh BOA was going to ding me 3.00 a month to mail me a bank statement, so I download it from their online site now instead for free.

@SeaMaiden- wow. My parents banked with BOA. I'm the executor of their estate. Getting to the point where I closed out their account there was a happy day. They, to me, were a pain to work with. I dreaded going in there.
So far, knock on wood, our banks haven't mentioned a fee for statements.

Old school all the way here. Checks and snail mail for bill paying plus no debit card and will only use A. Express credit card to stay out of debt.

I now go through my bank's bill pay service for almost all of them. There are a couple of local bills like our alarm company and lawn service that I pay by mailing them a check.
My auto and house insurance pull out of our account every month because that's the only way they would do it.

We get HUGE money back whenever we use our credit cards so yea we pay all of our bills online. I couldn't tell you the last check I've written.

Usually pay bills online through bank. It saves a ton of time and is also convenient as I travel frequently. And then there is the cost of postage (which adds up over the course of a year of Bill paying). I seldom use my debit card, preferring to use credit card (added security) and pay off monthly.

I attended an AARP seminar a couple of months on their Fraud Watch Network. They recommended if you're going to write checks to use a gel pen.
