Thanks to one of the posters on the Among Friends forum, I started a "MEMORY JAR" of daily posts in December, 2016. Rather than writing them in longhand, I post daily happenings on Microsoft Word which works for me and ensures I will post routinely.  I've checked back on many occasions and find it interesting and/or informative to note what happened on certain dates.  Some days I write a lot; other days I write a little.  It's been a lot of fun for the most part although there have been some sad comments too.

@AnikaBrodie I'm so happy that you have continued your Memory Jar. I like the idea of a daily journal on the computer. However, DH and I enjoy opening our Memory Jar on December 31 and reading all the happenings of the year.....and what a year 2017 has been for us.Smiley Happy

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

@Puddles
You will thoroughly enjoy reading your "memories" for 2017 and I'm sure there will be lots of tears and happy smiles, and more tears and smiles, as you read through the entire year.  What a year you've had and what special memories you've made and in many instances conquered during the year.  Enjoy and savor every day as you reflect on all the happenings for 2017.  I cherish your friendship.  (((Hugs))) and love.

Mine is more of a thoughts journal.  It's a second way I have of getting thoughts out and can go back and examine them.  If I see quotes I like I put those in too.

If I write something down and find out I was off on something or wrong, I can tear the page out and get rid of it.  That's always great to do.  I don't think I'd want it left around for anyone later.

@Plaid Pants2 I would not say I journal but when someone has hurt me very much or angered me, I turn on the word processor and type it out until my anger or hurt feelings and or I have calmed down, it helps, my fingers fly at lightening speed, and I take the frustration out on the keyboard and not myself or the person who put me in that position in the fist place. I have them all saved in a binder book, why, I don;t know I never go back and look at them again?

That too is why I have a "notes" type of journal. Not an everyday thing. ** to you @CareBears

Happy New to YOU! I too went to grief counseling & was asked  NOT to come back b/c I couldn't CRY! Can you believe that? I wasn't holding back tears, I just couldn't shed anymore, if you know what I mean? Hope you were able to finish yours.

I think when you've cried a lot, you do get to a point where there's no tears left. It just is. It may be a point of understanding, and picking yourself up, and going on. Crying helps to ease some pain, it doesn't solve anything though. I think the body understands this.
