Years ago, I was an assistant manager for a large department store. When managers were paged on the loudspeakers, we were assigned by numbers. Such as "8, to 1452" - 8 being the number, 1452 being the extension to call.

Around the holidays, we were assigned holiday themed page calls - such as Rudolph, Santa, Frosty, etc. Mine was Tinsel - and funnily enough, it stuck around long after Christmas was over!

Years later, if I see any of my previous co-workers, some of them still call me Tinsel! {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

I love it!

Re: Do You Have a Nickname at Home or Work?

I forgot the first nickname given to me. My Aunt Helen in Michigan nicknamed me "Wreck of the Hespres" (sp?) after a famous ship wreck because she thought it was a good match for Rebecca. She was 11 when I was born and had apparently just studied this wreck in school. Maybe it was a Lake Superior wreck.

Anyway, she'll still say, "Hey, Wreck," when she wants me in the kitchen, when I'm visiting. Too funny.
