Do you dream a lot when
you sleep?
Are the dreams vivid and detailed
and you remember them
very clearly?
I think we're probably just working
out our problems or maybe having
memories in our dreams.
Maybe our dreams help us.
What do you think?
😊
This article has some interesting ideas,
it's too long to paste here (maybe
we can add the rest of it in a reply) but
try the link or google the title of it

"What Do Your Dreams Mean? 10 Common Dreams Decoded"
"Ever had a recurring dream that you just can’t get to the bottom of? Often dream that your teeth are falling out, you’re falling, or being chased?
Well we might just have the answers you’re looking for.
The most common dreams actually have very simple psychological explanations, so if you’re experiencing the same dream scenarios over and over again, there could be something in your waking life that you need to address to give you a more peaceful night’s sleep…
We spoke to leading psychologist Wendy Dignan about 10 of the most common dream themes, and she’d decoded them all for us so you can sleep easy tonight (or at least wake up understanding your subconscious a little better…)....."

I have had very vivid dreams in the past that I just couldn't forget. And many of them have come true.

Wow!
Fascinating @Desertdi!
I never heard of predictions coming
into dreams and then coming true.
I hope they were positive things.

It depends, I always read before bed so sometimes my dreams reflect themes in the book I'm reading. Other times they are unrelated.
I've definitely had dreams comes true. Given the nature of this message board, I won't bother sharing what they were.

7 Reasons to Keep a Dream Journal
"A dream journal is the most important tool for dreamers. If you want to understand your dreams or learn lucid dreaming, a dream journal is a must. Here are my top 7 reasons to keep a dream journal:
1. Improve Dream Recall
You know the saying that goes, “What you focus on grows?” It applies to dreams too. If you want to recall more dreams, you need to pay attention to them.
Keeping a dream journal is the best way to train your mind that dreams are important. This is particularly true if you think you don’t dream or if you have trouble remembering your dreams.
If you can’t remember anything simply write “No dream recall.” Writing this phrase tells your subconscious that dreams are important and that you want to recall them. Eventually you’ll start recalling dream fragments and before you know it you’ll recall entire dream narratives.
2. Prep for Lucid Dreaming
Dream journals cultivate self-awareness and self-awareness is the key to lucid dreaming. Writing down your dreams allows you to see patterns. Soon you’ll have a list dream signs (dream occurrences that indicate you are dreaming).
Gaining awareness of your dream signs greatly increases your chances of recognizing when you are dreaming. And you know what that means – you’re on your way to becoming lucid.
3. Cultivate Psychic Abilities
Dreams are a direct connection to the Infinite All. And within the Infinite All, there is no time, and there is no space. This means that through your dreams, you have direct access to the past, present, and even the future.
If you’ve previously recorded a dream and then the events of the dream take place in your waking life, you’ll have proof of the validity of psychic dreaming. Without dream journal, it’s easy to dismiss or rationalize away your experience.
4. Boost Creativity
Dreams make you more creative. It’s a scientifically known fact that during dreaming your logical processes shut down and your creative centers take over.
In this state, your mind creates new neural pathways and connects ideas in different ways. The result is enhanced creativity and problem-solving skills. Writing down your dreams also gives you a record of your creative insights.
5. Detect Dream Patterns
It’s one thing to know that last night you dreamt about your mother. But remembering that you also dreamt about her last week and three times last month is the next level of understanding your dreams.
By keeping a dream journal, you can easily see patterns. You’ll notice reoccurring themes, characters, and events. Recognizing dream patterns gives you a window into your Soul and subconscious.
6. Review Your Dreams Later
Dreams are stored in your short-term memory and they fade quickly when you wake up. Even if you have excellent dream recall you’re unlikely to remember your dreams in a few days.
Keeping a dream journal gives you a record of your dreams. Later, you can review them for dream signs, themes, and patterns. You’ll also create a record of any psychic or prophetic dreams.
7. It’s Fun
Most importantly, keeping a dream journal is fun. I cherish my dream journal and my daily time for reflection on my life. And what could be more exciting than getting to know yourself better!" (http://amycope.com/7-reasons-to-keep-a-dream-journal/)

I do. For my entire life, except those few years on Trazadone, I have had major trouble with sleeping, AND I have always had nightmares.
Fortunately, these days, I mostly just have 'bad dreams' and not the full-on nightmares or night terrors. Every now and then I'll have one of those, but every single night, if I sleep at all I do have bad dreams.
I studied dreams for a few years, so I pretty much know why I have the dreams I have. Well, some of it wouldn't take an Einstein to figure out, as I had a horrific childhood and have PTSD. But more specifically, I can usually tell the very detailed meaning of a given dream.
I used to be able to recall them and go through them, from an analytical standpoint, as long as I did that as soon as I wake up. But I'm getting to where now I cannot remember 99% of a dream, even immediately after I have awakened. That is a bit frustrating. I miss going through them. It was helpful. ![]()

Some nights I dream, but I seldom remember them when I wake in the morning. I view them as a meaningless diversion while I slumber.

I have had many vivid dreams, but never had a nightmare or a scary dream. Most of my dreams are pleasant and some are stupid silly.
Sometimes I dream of a loved one who has passed. Once I had a man who showed up in my dreams for weeks. He never said anything, he was just there as a bystander. FInally it came to me... He was my brother who went bald as a young man. He came to show me his full head of hair! After I figured it out, he just disappeared from my dreams.
My mother who passed about 35 years ago sometimes is in my dreams. She usually is giving me advise or guiding me. I love to hear her voice in my dreams. It's a beautiful sound that I sorely miss.
I used to dream of horses on a beautiful ranch that I owned. I can't figure that one out, but the dream continued on for years... Like a bad soap opera.
I have never had a dream about any of the subjects in the article that are popular.

I have had two vivid recurring dreams since I was about 6 years old and I remember every detail of each dream. Both are very dark and scary and for awhile I thought I was dreaming about a real incident that I witnessed at the age of 5. According to my mother the incident never happened.
I have had dreams that have come true but, more often than not, I can only remember bits and pieces of most of my dreams.
When a child and in my 20's I had bad nightmares and also walked in my sleep. I grew out of that until recently in my mid 60's the sleep walking (not the nightmares) has started up again. I am now considering going for a sleep study.

I have very vivid dreams. I usually remember all details of my dreams. Sometimes I can smell in my dreams.
I used to have a recurring dream about my teeth falling out. I haven't had that one in a long time.
