Do Vendors get paid for appearances?

Just wondering if they get extra pay for their appearances. I know they share in the sales, but I wondered if they were paid extra for each appearance. i.e. - yesterday, Dr. Denese made one brief appearance of no more than 10 minutes. In order to do this , she had to drive from NYC. Ditto, for Joan Rivers, who drove from NYC for a show with Dennis Basso on Fri night. I could go on and on - but these appearances entail considerable expense which I'm sure these vendors don't absorb themselves. None of my business, of course, but I was just curious.
