Re: Disregard, problem solved

Thanks DooB.

This is a cat that was adopted out of a WA no kill shelter (I don't know how long ago but suspect it was quite a while) and somehow ended up in a Las Vegas kill shelter. The WA shelter learned about it and is trying to rescue the cat from LV and return it to WA.

We're all keeping paws crossed that everything works out and the kitty is returned to Seattle.

I looked it up on Facebook, and I've been watching the story. Several friends of mine are active in identifying and transporting dogs and cats to find good, loving, permanent homes. They sometimes travel across the country, setting up a chain of loving volunteers who make sure their precious cargo makes it safely to the destination. It's truly heartwarming to see such efforts.

Thanks, again!

Re: Disregard, problem solved

I am heartbroken to report that in spite of all the support for the LV kitty the shelter euthanized her.

Re: Disregard, problem solved

Oh, no! Why did they do that? I thought they said arrangements were being made to help return the kitty. Yes, yes, I know. "Animal shelters are overwhelmed and they just can't take another animal in and they're always trying their best." Which they are, but that's not the point. The point is that arrangements were being made to pick the cat up, which meant it would've lightened the shelter's load. Did they ignore that or was there a failure of communication?

Re: Disregard, problem solved

I opened this thread because something told me to...

This breaks my heart...

I am with a few shelters and also help with placement from the CACC Cat transfer team facebook page...This is a page dedicated to cats (most but some do end up vetted and adoptable) that will never make it to adopts (it's a HUGE process to get them out)

..It saves so many cats that would be put down and unknown..( My last 2 are from there)..

Anyway, there is nothing worse than securing a "hold" then finding out the cat is "no longer available".Nobody is EVER clear on what is lost in translation or WHY the hold wasn't placed...I do not think I will EVER be able to see/read those without crying...

Marp, generally when they go off radar it's not good...{#emotions_dlg.sad}

Fighting for them.( formerly EMTHeart)

Re: Disregard, problem solved

Thanks for explaining it, Alley Catvocate.

I'm not angry at the shelter, but it's very disheartening. Animals are not like merchandise and the "order" should not have been gotten wrong.

If a shopping store, online or not, makes a mistake: "Whoopsie, got your order wrong. Sorry about that. Mistake happen ya know."

With animals, it really shouldn't be: "Whoopsie, put your animal to sleep. Sorry about that. Mistakes happen ya know."

Re: Disregard, problem solved

I read the update on the Ghostbuster kittens FB page today. I am furious and sad. Why those evil people couldn't wait another day for the kitty to be picked up is beyond outrageous.
