Re: Disney World will reopen this summer

My husband and are Disney junkies. We just moved from an hour away to Disneyland to the East coast 6 hours away to Disney World. Our first trip was to be Disney World this year. However with Covid I think we will hold off until at least next year. But I am glad to see it is opening for those that want to go. How long before the Treacys make it down there? As of now no fireworks, parades or meet and greets.
As for mandatory mask I don't know. In the summer swelter that could be brutal.

The masks will be brutal in warm weather, so true.

Re: Disney World will reopen this summer

I haven't been to any Disney venue since I was in High School.  A lot has changed since then.  I hate crowds, so it's not somewhere I'm particularly interested in going anyways.

I heard you have to reserve your slot and they will be checking temperatures as you enter the park.  Also, everybody has to wear a mask.  No way would I wear a mask all day at a hot theme park.

On another note, we have a very popular water park in th same park where my ice skating rink used to operate and they have announced that they will not be opening this season.  Not sure if it's more about the crowds or about the prep for opening since they depend on college kids for a lot of their seasonal work including life guards.  Normally, they would've been having meetings with those kids long before this.

Re: Disney World will reopen this summer

Disney's Vero Beach Resort and Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort will open June 15 and all Disney Vacation Club properties at the WDW Resort on June 22.  All Cast Members and guests will be asked to wear face coverings in public resort areas when not eating or drinking and to respect social distancing.  Members and guests are strongly encouraged to check in remotely thru My Disney Experience APP, frequently wash their hands and use cashless payment options.  Details about operational adjustments, including offeringsthat may remain temporarily suspended at individual resorts are available online at disneyworld.com .  July 11 is the beginning of the phased reopening proposed to the government officials in Florida for WDW.

I cannot imagine families going to Disney World, given the fears generated by the Coronovirus. Until we have a vaccine, we will all be afraid of going to unmasked locations. Those who deny the risks will pay dearly.

I am not afraid to go to unmasked places.  And your predicition that everyone who goes unmasked will get sick - well - that is just not true.

Re: Disney World will reopen this summer

Over in the travel forum I posted the new guidelines...

no thanks -- I feel next year maybe but the costs are outrageous already for the day...and IMO who feels like paying $$$$ to have to be uncomfortable and on alert every minute for social distancing!

There are beautiful national parks with fresh air, trails and things to see.

I wouldn't go, but to each his (or her) own.

On a positive note, most of the characters who walk around the park mingling with guests will be protected by their costumes.  Certain characters, like Snow White, will be at risk.

Re: Disney World will reopen this summer

I cannot imagine doing Disney with a face mask on!  It is expensive for admission and I will wait until I can enjoy it without a mask, and without fear of catching Covid19.  How in the world will they keep it sanitized?  No thanks.  Feel sorry for all the people who are employed there.
