Does anyone have the hopper from Dish Satellite and do you like it?

Yes and yes! I wasn't really wanting to have satellite, as the older ones would go out quite a bit. We rarely lose the signal, only in a really rough storm, and it comes back very quickly. The hopper is great and we don't even have the new one, which stores alot more. Oh, and the app works well to watch anywhere. Hope that helps!

@chiclet

I have had all models of the Hopper by Dish. The original/Hopper 3 and the Hopper Sling. The Hopper 3 WILL be great when they get all the hardware and software problems fixed. I had it for 3 weeks and it had way too many issues.

A Dish engineer called me and we talked about it for 20 minutes. He knows it has the issues are they are working to fix all of them. Some are with the hardware(machine itself) and others trying to iron out the software issues.

They removed it and gave me the Hopper/Sling and it works just fine since we have had it. This model allows you to watch all the shows you have recorded on any mobile device via Wi-Fi wherever you might be.

Works very good/has lots of good features and holds 1tb of recordings(which is twice as much as a large computer hard drive). I am a techy guy so it was pretty easy for me to learn all the features. Not that is that hard, but it does take some time working with it. For the basic record/watch features I think it is pretty simple. Definitely better than any of the many DVR's I have used.

The new Hopper 3 does not store more information as it has the same 1tb hard drive as the 2 other Hoppers. What it does do is allow you to record 16 different shows/10 more than the other 2 models of the Hopper.

It does have several other features exclusive to the Hopper 3, but you might want to read my other post about my experiences with the Hopper 3.

@HULAGIRL

Our Hopper 3 was about $3.68 more than our present Hopper/Sling. It may depend on what programming you subscribe to with Dish, not sure. But ours was as I said above.

Thanks for the info........the extra $10 bucks was keeping me from pursuing it further.......I'd like to be able to watch on mobile devices and also record more programming.

We have been with DISH for over 18 yrs. We switched out to the Hopper 3 the beginning of Feb. We have not really had any problems that I have seen. I wanted to be able to record more shows at the same time. Now being able to record 16 shows at a time I can record what I want & DH can record what he wants with no problems. Our hopper is already 45% full. LOL!!! We also have a 1 TB hard drive to move shows/movies to if we need to. It has all the stuff from our old DVR we transferred over to when we switched to the Hopper 3. No way we will ever watch everything we have recorded. It took a little getting used to. The remote is different, using the guide is different, I'm still figuring it all out. I'm sure it does the same things the old remote did just in a different way.

I like how you can set it up to record the series so when the season comes back on it will automatically start recording the series again. I don't have to keep setting up all these series to record again once they are set up.

I have recorded some shows when it was storming. Some shows the whole show it there, some shows have parts of the show & some is just fuzzy pic. I was surprised at the shows that were all there during bad weather. Like you said the signal is not lost long unless it's a really bad storm.
