I have had a Discover card for 14 years. Though it is not my primary card, I still think it is good. Right now they have a deal where they "match" 7% of your payment each month. So, let's say I pay $200 as my monthly payment, they kick in $14 (7%)so it then shows my monthly payment to be $214. I think it is because I have been with them so long, but who knows. LOL

I did not read all the responses, so forgive me if this was already mentioned.

They also will send you your credit score each month (at the bottom of your mo. statement). Mine stays at about 780 per month, but one month it dipped down to 752, so I then called to check out why the dip. So, all in all, it is a good card to have IMO.

suzie, I have not heard of this promotion. Looks like I have a phone call to make. I was just grousing to my husband the other day, I cannot seem to get my monthly bill lower than $1,000, so $70 would help (although I do pay in full every month).

In the late 1980's, I had a Discover card. After I got married. I added my then husband to my account. When we decided to separate 10 years later, I wanted his name removed from the account. Discover refused, stating that HE had to agree to be taken off of MY card, despite the fact that I was the primary card holder & had been for several years before my marriage. I told them to cancel the account, effective immediately. I've been getting letters from them for years now asking me to come back to them. After that incident, I'm not interested.

Interesting! I was the primary holder on my account and later added my husband's name without providing any financial info for him. After he died in 1996, I had his name removed without problem telling me that I was the primary holder and could add or remove as I chose. They did not request a death certificate or any other proof.

Although some places do not accept Discover, I find there are more places that don't take AmEx. I have had a Discover card for about 25 years but pay my balance in full each month as I do with all my cards.

I've had a Discover Card for 20 years. I recently had a situation with an on-line company that sells alarm clocks and charged it on my Discover Card. Turns out, this company sent me a defective clock - and I returned it with their label. Fortunately, I photocopied their label and gave Discover Card the tracking number and they found that the clock was delivered back to them. This is the first problem I had - and Discover took care of it. I never had anyone say that they don't accept Discover Card.

Magic, please check it out because there is a limit to how much they will "repay" you each month. I think I was given the promotion because I have been with them so long. But I usually pay $200 per month on my bill and then they kick in the 7% and that helps a little bit!!

suzie, I definitely will check this out. Perhaps because I pay my balance in full every month, I don't qualify? But I do know Discover values their long-time customers. Whenever, I have called customer service, the rep will tell me I have been a customers since (date) and they appreciate my business.

Thanks for the heads up!
