@SeaMaiden telling Burnsite what she SHOULD HAVE done is not helpful to her. Why would you want to kick her when she's down?
Not nice.
@sunala In her first post she never mentioned having her jewelry insured.....or that the police asked for a list of the jewelry she had.....I would think that IF she had insured all the pieces.....that she would have enough information on what she had Insured Written down with photos of each piece........and that a list from QVC would not be needed. She came across all upset at QVC for not having the information in the beginning. Whining and blaming everything on them.

I'm still waiting to receive something I ordered on June 12.....no, it wasn't something on an advance order.............I got tired of waiting and tried to cancel the order, but I think it was too late because I then got an noticed it had shipped......that was days ago and I still don't have it. Apparently, it was shipped from the vendor and not from the Q, but I'm really tired of waiting and since this item is an auto-delivery, I am re-thinking continuing to do business with the vendor.

@Burnsite, sorry that this happened!
This is a great reminder to have an inventory with photos or video if possible. I'm glad that the Q will be able to help, but companies close all the time, and may not be able to help with past purchase data, etc.

Did you change your last name by any chance, since you changed your number? I had two numbers also and didn't know it. I came across two cards and called and said whic one is right? I changed my name back to my maidn name and that is what happened. The other thing you might try, is the police can get those records if you cannot. Good Luck and sorry you have had this issue.
As another poster said , if you know how you paid , you may be able to get those records.

When we updated our homeowners insurance policy a while back, the company wanted appraisals for the jewelry pieces that would be on the rider. Ditto for the mink jacket.
On the appendix to my will, I will now add pictures of the items designated for each recipient.

Hello, all, I mentioned I was filing an insurance claim in my initial post. I am getting records from Am Ex also. And I appreciate the good advice.
The police thought it would be helpful to have the detailed descriptions of the items that the QVC records might have. This is evidently a gang of people who specialized in identity theft and gold and the person in jail was carrying a satchel of stolen passports. They didn't get mine, though.
I'm signing off the thread now as Julie in the President's office has helped me out and was very pleasant about it, too. At least I will know what to say to the detective tomorrow.

I understand the multiple enquiries and being told different things each time is frustrating and not good customer service. However, it seems a little much to expect a company to keep that type of detailed record for years and years. They have millions of customers and saving that level of detail for more than a few years can actually be extremely expensive.
I don't know what your insurance company requires, but I know mine covers only a few hundred dollars for jewelry (or other expensive art & antiques) unless I purchase an insurance rider to cover higher amounts.. In order to qualify for the amount I want covered under the rider I have to provide appraisals and significant details for the pieces I want covered.
This is a good reminder for folks who have expensive pieces to check with their insurance companies to see what is covered and if appraisals are needed for valuable items. It also helps the police if you keep pictures of your best pieces in the event of a theft.
Sorry this happened to you. Several yrs ago, our house was broken into during the day on Christmas Eve. Luckily our neighbor chased the guy away and even though he did quite a bit of damage to our front door and door frame he only got a few inexpensive items. Since then I won't live without a security system.

Burnsite, I just wanted to say how sorry I am that you have to experience that. It must of been very unsettling to have such an invasion in your home. I am very glad that they caught them. I hope you get justice and those lowlifes get jail time.

I am so sorry for this happening to you. We have been married 20 almost 21 years and own every receipt all our receipts. Even ones for fast food places. It is not hard to do and just takes up a shoe box. Now the ones from the Q are in a different plastic tote. I also have divided them into: jewelry, clothes, etc and clipped them together. It is not hard to do. Just takes a little discipline We ask for our receipts and put them in our wallet not the bag from the store.

I am SOOOOO Sorry this happened to you! That said reading this made me realize how lax we too (or I am) with my gold/jewelry.
I purchased A LOT back in the early 90;s to 00...from at that time Shop NBC. I purchased a lot for tweny bucks a gram for 18K..that said I need to take photos..and I had inquired in the past to insure it all but it just didn't happen.
Your case should be a huge wake up call to those of us who could be easily in the same position.
Just recently we did get a Home Security System...but those mean nothing really if they want to get in..they will...
Please if you don't mind..keep us posted on how this works out for you...and again so very sorry this happened, I know if I lost my gold stuff I would not be able to replace it for a fraction of the cost..and luckily we do have replacement cost on our home owners insurance when I get it..when I had asked it was not all that much extra..they said pictures would work! I am going to put it on my list of things to do..that I really do - do when I have a couple of minutes.
I thought they were going to dump me this past spring when they sent me a letter that a agent was coming around for inspection..I thought uh oh...the house is 30-years old and they want to dump us as replacement cost is much more than what we paid...and believe it or not..shocking as it was we had no violations/issues and the policy continued!
