I did my daughter's taxes using turbotax online and both of her stimulus payments were deposited directly into her checking account by the treasury dept, not sent to turbotax.  I wonder why it's different for some.

Apparently, if you had the kind of return that required payment, and had that payment deducted from your refund, another account was set up in order to take the payment.

I'm just glad that most of them have fixed the problem.  Six hundred may not be much, but when everyone else got their's but your's is missing....it makes you wonder "what the heck?"

@GrailSeeker Thanks for explaining that.  She had a refund coming, but we paid her fees with her credit card rather than having them deducted from the refund.

I work for H&R Block, and there is no problem getting your stimulus direct deposited if that is how you got your tax refund or the last stimulus, and your bank account is still active. If you got your refund via check or owed taxes, you will get your stimulus via check or might get a Treasury Dept debit card, which might look like junk mail so check your mail carefully. The only issue is H&R Block customers who got their refund on an H&R Block Emerald debit card, and in that case it will be sent to the same Emerald card account, and if you lost your debit card, you can go into any office to have a new one issued and the stimulus will go on the new card within 24 hours. Happy to help.

@GrailSeeker     That's exactly what happened with TurboTax. If your return required a fee and you chose to pay that fee out of your refund a pass through account was set up and the stimulus payments went to this account instead of the individual's bank account on file with the return.  TurboTax fixed this and most received their payment on 1/8. TurboTax claims this was an IRS error. Who knows but at first the IRS was saying it could not be fixed and you would have to file for this payment on the 2020 tax return. To a family waiting on the money to help make it though a few more months this is unacceptable.

I received the first stimulus payment via direct deposit to my checking account, no problem. This time the IRS site shows my second payment was deposited to that same account on Jan 4 but it hasn't shown up at my bank yet.

I used Turbo Tax for my 2019 tax prep but got a refund that was deposited to my checking account - didn't pay for the TT service with part of the refund.

I wonder if somehow TT's involvement is the obstacle for me despite everything being pretty straightforward and no changes to my account info.

I was thinking that I also paid for mine with a credit card.  At any rate, another account had to have been set up to receive that payment, regardless of how it was made.

If you have documentation from the IRS that it was deposited on January 4 to your account, and the account number shown is correct, I think I would be asking the bank for an explanation.

These deposits that were held up due to an error on the part of the IRS sending to wrong account numbers were supposed to have gone out yesterday, but it did say to give your bank a few days.

@GrailSeeker   Checked with my bank and they do not have it. I will initiate an ACH credit investigation with the bank if it does not show up by the mandated date of 1/15.

What a mess! I think it's stuck in the IRS pipe somewhere...

(My bank is one specializing in serving members of the military and their families and they run like clockwork.)

Don't get me wrong. Assuming I get it, I'm happy to get whatever amount they want to dole out. However, I'm wondering just how 'stimulating' they think the average person is going to get with six hundred bucks... I'll probably just turn around and send it back to them in a few months anyway...
