Re: Difference between being laid off vs fired

A laid off employee can also get unemployment compensation while a fired one usually can't.

Dear lord give it a rest.

They are gone.   They've moved on,  why can't the people on this board?

They are gone,  Deal With It.

Re: Difference between being laid off vs fired

I remembered reading a news article about companies no longer being allowed to prohibit a furloughed employee from disclosing info about their severance package or from disclosing disparaging things about the company.

This is from the National Labor Relations Board dot gov.

February 21, 2023

Today, the Board issued a decision returning to longstanding precedent holding that employers may not offer employees severance agreements that require employees to broadly waive their rights under the National Labor Relations Act. The decision involved severance agreements offered to furloughed employees that prohibited them from making statements that could disparage the employer and from disclosing the terms of the agreement itself.

It's time to back this subject off the boards and those that want to follow Carolyn and Dan join them with their questions on their social media pages. It's their choice what they choose to share with their fans.

They are moving forward and maybe don't want to be bombarded with intrusive questions or share anything further.  Move forward with them and support their future endeavors.

Just my thoughts and opinions.

Re: Difference between being laid off vs fired

As I've posted somewhere else, I have a feeling that C and D wouldn't want their fans and non-fans to be in ongoing bantering and turmoil.

Just the way I feel, right or wrong.

Let's just wish them well, and all of us, too.

Re: Difference between being laid off vs fired

It took me a while to notice this, but since I've been shopping here, and talking with others here on the forums of course, a lot of hosts have left "to spend more time with family."

I don't know why they left, and it may have been a mutual decision, but I would bet it was not a voluntary decision on the hosts' part!

Re: Difference between being laid off vs fired

Personally, I think it's none of our business.  Maybe they're thinking about how what they say or don't say could be viewed by a potential employer.  But, it really doesn't matter.  It's not our business and they don't owe us anything including any kind of explanation.  I just wish them the best.

Re: Difference between being laid off vs fired

I find it incredible that anyone would think that these employees should tell us specifically if they were laid off or fired!  SMH!
