Difference Between Cart and Wish List

Someone mentioned saving a product from Amazon to their "wishlist".  The products I don't buy immediately stay in my "cart".  Is there any difference?  Any reason I should put those items in the "Wishlist"?  I know you can share your wishlist but I don't plan to do that.

Thanks

@monicakm  I don't usually leave things in my cart, because DH also orders from the same account. He might inadvertently order something I'm just thinking about. The wish list is good for things I'm just thinking about.

Re: Difference Between Cart and Wish List

With all the Amazon shopping I do, I've never used the wish list. My method is the same: I put things in my cart that I plan on purchasing at that time. Things I might buy at a later date go to "Save for Later." That way, should I need to get to the "free shipping" dollar amount (don't have/want Prime), I can pull from there.

I use “save for later” so I don’t have to go hunting for it again if I want to purchase at a later date.

I also don't leave things in my cart. If I put them there and don't buy right away I remove them from the cart. I see you can create a list if you want but I have never done that.

Re: Difference Between Cart and Wish List

The wish list is great! I scan it every day, and it will show when something is on sale, and then you just move it to your cart if you want to purchase it. Why put things in your cart unless you're going to buy them? You can also makes notes on the wish list items. For example, prices you've seen the item sell for before, or who it might be a good gift for, etc.

I use wishlist mainly for kindle books, but also for products that I might order in the future.

Re: Difference Between Cart and Wish List

I use Amazon Wish Lists extensively...

  • things I might be interested in but want to shop around/comparison shop
  • gift ideas (lists for each recipient)
  • a category almost like flagging a catalog (like when you're shopping for a light fixture or curtains....all the ones you like before narrowing it down)
  • gadgets friends may recommend or that I see online and want to check out a little more (almost like a bookmark)
  • books I want to check out (and probably get through the library)

Wish Lists keep the overwhelming universe of Amazon more focused for me.

The best part about Amazon Wish Lists is that if you have the app and/or Alexa and enable notifications, Amazon will alert you when an item on your Wish List is on sale. Comes in super handy -- esp during Prime Days (which I find overwhelming). During Prime Days, I start a Wish List specifically for perhaps larger items I'm hoping will go on sale just so that I can monitor them more closely and/or get alerts when they go on sale (things like a Frame TV or a toaster oven, etc.). [I do not know if the same alerts would happen if it's just in your cart.]

As others said, I never keep things in my cart, because someone else in the household would inevitably make a purchase and accidentally buy something I was still mulling over.
