Yes, those prepackaged foods are high in sodium which can make you retain water. Not to mention the preservatives and other additives.

I usually don’t take weight loss advice from someone who makes money off of it and/or had a history of unhealthy weight loss issues.

@GenXmuse.....agree with you totally.  It surprises me that so many of those kinds of foods are being sold on line and those folks that buy them don't pay any attention as to what is in those meals.

I do believe that eating in moderation is the best way to get extra weight off and maintain it.  Eating healthy is so important.  Wonder sometimes how the FDA lets them sell these prepackaged meals.....

By the way, the St. Louis Cardinals won last night's game 7 to 6 in the 9th inning.  It was a fantastic game.  Will be watching it tonight, that is if it doesn't get rained out.  Supposed to have about 6 days in a row of rain.....and that includes the 3 weekend games with the Brewers.

@LyndaGee  I agree about them keeping Marie because she has kept the weight off, even though she's had so much work done she's almost unrecognizable.  I just question with all the low-fat, no-fat, sugar free foods, all the diet pills and weight-loss systems, why as a nation we are still getting larger and larger?

@bootsanne  Portion control? Just because a bag of cookies is low fat or low sugar doesn’t mean you can eat the entire bag at once.

I’m a little surprised with all the diet advice, mine included, no one has mentioned exercise. Muscle burns more calories. Sitting on your behind and eating prepared food from a box, yuck! ....and, yes, me a size 2 stay on a diabetic diet (for over 2 decades because of family history). I cook my own food and learned how much of each to put on my plate. It’s not rocket science.

Sorry to preach, but pre-prepared foods do not teach you how much or what to eat. You’re hooked on a boxed meal.

Exercise helps to maintain weight loss and but has little value for actually losing weight.  Obviously, being fit has other benefits.

Like what LyndaGee said in this post.....about people getting larger and larger.  I agree with that.  If you watch any shows on TV where there are crowds of people (especially the back sides of folks)....you can really see how large folks are.  The same goes when shopping in the grocery store, or stores in malls.  Just wonder if these folks realise what they look like.

About eating an entire bag of low fat or low sugar cookies at one time.  That made me laugh.  Know I could never eat a whole bag of cookies at one time....but I only eat normal, regular cookies.  Love the Honey Maid chocolate graham crackers.....delicious.  I only eat 2 of them at a time...not the whole box....lol.

You are one itty bitty woman.  Congrats on cooking your own food and how much of each you put on your plate.

You are correct in no one mentioning exercise.  I was on a pretty good exercise program until before I started the radiation treatments....  Was too weak to do them.....  I had a pretty good group of exercises I got from the rehab center I was in almost a year ago.  I had fallen in the hall in my apartment when I was on my way to the bathroom.  Fractured my T11...and was in the hospital 6 days, then to a rehab facility for 10 days.  After that I had home therapy folks come in.  Those are the exercises I had been doing, and hopefully I can get back on them very soon.  By the way, I am 78 years old, and healing at that age takes longer.  Also I am still using my walker once I get out the back door of my apartment..  And that isn't easy..  Don't use it in the apartment because there is enough furniture around that I can grab on to if I feel I am losing my balance.

Don't consider you preaching....good sound advice.

Re: Diet Commercials

It's critically essential, even life-saving, for each person to be extremely careful, skeptical, wary when believing on-air commercials or the claims made on internet websites and videos.   Look at what or who is behind the curtain...  in every case.   There are plenty of paid or otherwise-compensated shills online -- sometimes even here in these forums -- who can be very persuasive, in addition to those who aren't compensated and who probably mean well but are putting forth bad and even dangerous one-size-fits-all advice.
The number of beautifully-designed commercials, crafty and cunning "health" and "nutrition" sites, YouTube videos and "documentaries" is growing and can be as deadly as a poisonous spider's web.    And even if they claim the info is free...   they're always eventually trying to sell something.    (Remember the old enticement, "the first one's always free."🤔)
It's especially unsettling when they try to direct us away from the advice we've received from our health care team who work with us in real life, know us as individuals, know our history, sensitivities, needs, and who will be there for us if/when we need them in emergencies. "Goofynickname" on the internet won't be there to help us, nor will "Dr. [online-or-tv-expert]".
Catfishing goes far beyond romantic connections and it long ago moved into anonymous nicknames dispensing questionable medical and nutritional advice.   A memorable warning about believing online promoters and so-called "experts" is the ad about the dude who tried to impress people by claiming to be a French model.  Hey, the internet doesn't lie...  right?  It's a light, humorous way to remind us:  buyer beware, and believer beware.😉
