I played with dolls before Barbie's time.

I played with cloth dolls until "magic skin" dolls came out in the late forties. They were the first of the lifelike baby dolls with a kind of rubberized body and a hard head with eyeballs that opened and closed. My sister and I couldn't believe it, we thought they looked like real babies. We had those dolls for years. My mom used to make new clothes for them every Christmas.
Even my girls did not play with Barbies. They didn't like dolls that much. They loved Fisher Price and Playskool villages, farms, etc., and the "little people," and they used to make other buildings for the "towns" out of cardboard which they cut out and painted. They would play with this stuff all day long on days they weren't outside playing, which was most of the time.
So no, Barbies were not big in my house. My granddaughters played with dolls though, but they leaned toward American Girl dolls rather than Barbies.

No. I never had any interest in playing with dolls, or any other "girl" toys.

Yes I played with Barbies. I was little when the first ones came out. I had Barbie, Midge, Skipper, Ken, cases, and clothing. I wish I still had them! I gave them to my 1st husbands sister and she destroyed them. They would be worth money now...lol.
But I must say my favorite "toys" were my etch a sketch (which I still have one of and use.lol), board games, metal roller skates, and most of all my Schwinn bike!

Yes I had Barbie, Ken, and Skipper, also the corvette and Barbie House. My little sister "inherited" them when she wanted to start playing with them.
