I rarely played with baby dolls. I liked climbing trees, Matchbox cars, Breyer horses and I got my first Barbie at age 5. She had the bubble brown-hair do and came in a red swimsuit along with a "Solo in the Spotlight" outfit (black sparkly/tulle dress and a microphone stand) Along the way my sis and I got Midge, Skooter, Skipper, Francie, 2 Staceys (British Cousin). We had no Ken. We played with dolls until I was 14. We used the wig head Barbie wearing the short blonde wig as a boy (those dolls got a bit busy in Barbie's convertible).

I also had trolls galore with houses, furniture etc. My aspirations as a little girl was to be a Mommie with lots of babies .....as it turned Out I chose to be child free!I had trolls also and loved them. Also had troll houses. I still have a troll that sits on the desk in our office. She's adorable- has pink hair.

No. I never liked dolls AT ALL. I think, for me, they represented humans and humans always hurt me in one way or another during my childhood.
I loved stuffed animals, though! Animals are pure and wonderful.
It's embarrassing to say, but I still have stuffed animals and I LOVE them.

No; I'd outgrown dolls by the time she came out. I do remember struggling to sew teeny little outfits for my little sister's Barbie for a Christmas gift. They were so small I wound up having to sew them entirely by hand because they were too hard to maneuver with the sewing machine. Then, they accidentally got tossed out with the holiday wrapping! At least we found them before we lit a match to the incinerator. You can tell that was a really long time ago, because everyone stopped incinerating trash sometime in the late 60s or early 70s, due to the air pollution.

I played with Barbies until I was probably 12 or older. My grandma made me and entire wardrobe for her and Ken, and she was an excellent seamstress. I still have cases full of those clothes, and they are a treasure to me.
I don't think it hurt me any. I never did get into high fashion or makeup as an adult. I obtained two college degrees, and worked in retail management for a couple of decades. I've raised an awesome son, and been active politically for decades as well. I think this study missed the mark.
