And if you did , do you live there, did you keep it or sell it? If you sold it, what were the deciding factors and are you okay with that decision?

No. Family home was sold and parents moved on. DD's family home was sold by ex DH and we moved on.

Yes my 3 brothers and I inherited the house. My parents expected us to sell it and for me to buy a condo with my share. That is exactly what we did. Of course the house sold in 5 days! We had to get busy cleaning it out fast! I am not a new member I was pink roses and had to change my log ins.

I did not inherit my home but I was given the opportunity to buy it from my mother's estate after she passed. It was an assumable loan that I could not pass up.

Yes. My sister and I own my parents property. We do not live there, but it will be passed down to the next generation.

Yes, my parents sold it when they went to assisted living. When they passed away, my two sisters and a brother and myself received the proceeds. The house was in a prime spot on the water. It was a beautiful house from 1910. Perfect condition. Everyone these days wants a McMansion. They leveled the house.

My husband and I purchased from my father our family's shore house. Eventually it became our primary residence.
My father died without a will. My step-mother's son is a lawyer and gained POA, as she suffered from dementia. My father died in Ireland (with us) on a family vacation. We did not receive a penny from his estate. (but karma has reared its head, believe me)

My brothers & I inherited it , it was sold and the money divided. We all had our chances to go thru and pick out things we wanted to keep, but since I was the only one who lives closeby - they only took small momentos. I was very fortunate that a friend of DH's was getting a divorce and he purchased most everything in the house from me for one amount - he took dishes, furniture, towels, sheets, pots & pans - even the food from the pantry. He brought over a moving co. and they took it all out for me.He even swept it clean when they were done, so it was ready to turn over to the buyers. We were a blessing to him & he to us.
