Re: Did you ever run into a famous person?

I got to meet several musicians back in the 80's and 90's, mostly after performances in Neavda casino cabarets. The most well known would be Paul Revere (Paul Revere & the Raiders) and Gene Clark (Byrds). Also Mike Pinera (Blues Image/Alice Cooper/Iron Butterfly), Jerry Corbetta (Sugarloaf), Peter Rivera (Rare Earth), when they were all in a band together, Phil "Fang" Volk (PRR when they had their early hits) and Sky Saxon (The Seeds). Many others, but these are the one's I spoke with multiple times that are the most likely to be recognized.

Re: Did you ever run into a famous person?

Does this count?

Years ago, while at my daughters home, I answered their phone (landline).  The man on the other end asked for my SIL.  He had such a smooth sounding voice I told him he should be on the radio doing the Midnight Love segments.  He started laughing as I handed the phone to my SIL.

When my SIL hung up he asked my daughter if I knew who I was talking to.

It was MICHAEL JORDON!!!!!! Smiley Surprised faint.gif

I've posted this before I think.  I only had one and it was a big one.  I met and had a brief conversation with Robert De Niro.  It was in New York, not far form where he lives.  The embarrassing part was I didn't know at the time who he was.  I was visiting my sister in New York and at a street corner, we witnessed a big drag out fight between a couple in the street.  They wouldn't leave and soon we had a whole crowd around us.  Mr. De Niro walked up to me, watched them waiting for the police  and struck up a conversation with me.  I asked him if he was famous when he said he was an actor.  I had seen him walk out of a theatre door.  He laughed and said yes.  He looked very ordinary.  To be fair, I hardly saw any movies with him in it.  I never even saw the Godfather.  My sister (who was with me) screamed at me afterwards "You idiot, that was Rober De Niro!"

Quite honestly. that's the way I am with famous people. I think I know them but I'm not quite sure. And it turns out to be someone very famous.  I'm in NYC often and see 'familiar faces' all the time!! Woman LOL

For me it was just one. My son and I were in an antique shop about three years ago and James Woods was there. We had a conversation about life and of course antiques. He is from this area and was very nice. Not at all like what I read about him.

I just remembered that Yoko Ono was sitting 2 rows in front of us at a preview of the show Lennon, also years ago John Tesh, while he was still a reporter at CBS2 in NY ran past me after a 10K race in Central Park

Re: Did you ever run into a famous person?

Where to start - DH was in music business for 20 years we worked and toured with lots of singers and bands.  Very first ABBA then onto so many others including Bruce Springsteen, Wings, Ozzie, Beach Boys, Bowie, Bryan Ferry, Fleetwood Mac, B.Joel,etc,etc. too many to mention spending probably from 2 nights to 6 weeks working, living, touring with them.  Had lots of laughs.

All great fun, very, very hard work and only worked with 2 in all those years who were not very nice!  The rest were great pleasure to work for probably the easiest the heavy metal boys.

Re: Did you ever run into a famous person?

Oh, forgot my Sonny & Cher story. When I was in HS, my BFF borrowed her mom’s convertible and we drove to Sonny & Cher’s house (someone had told her the address) early on a Saturday morning and knocked on the door (the chutzpah of teenagers). Sonny answered the door. Instead of slamming it in our face, which many would have done, he called for Cher - who was still a teenager herself, only 3 years older than we were.

She gave us a tour of the house (we saw all the fur/faux fur vests, boots, etc) and gave us a Coke for breakfast. She was sweet, and they were both kind when they didn’t have to be.
