This topic came to mind when I was on the mellyg boards describing some rugs we ordered from the Sears catalog when I was a kid. They were made of fluffy yellow shag and looked like two big feet (each about three feet long). Accompanying the look was a yellow and orange floral bedspread. My accent wall was orange. IT GETS WORSE! Then I ordered a set of these peel and stick dancers for my walls. Guys in striped bell bottoms and girls in mini skirts and go-go boots. They reminded me of the Archie comic book characters. It sounds awful now. So did any of you have equally bad taste?

Not in elementary school, but in junior high and 9th grade, my walls were plastered with pictures and posters of Bobby Sherman.

Michael Jackson with tiger cubs poster and wildlife posters from school. And a bookcase that I turned into a big Breyer horse model stables. I also had a waterbed, believe it or not.

My mother picked out the main elements of my room. Blue and green shag rug, light blue walls, flowered curtains and bedspread, wicker chair.  I plastered the walls with pennents, posters and the closet doors with pictures of TV stars cut out of our newspaper's TV guide.

I picked all the decor for my room including a pink textured wallpaper.  I painted the bed and chest of drawers pale gray and had pink and gray stripped bedding.  I can't stand gray in home decor now.

I had animal posters on my pink bedroom walls that later turned into posters

of Rick Springfield and New Kids on the Block. I would always buy all those

Tiger Beat and Teen Beat Magazines.Also had on my wall a latch hook kit

rug of a butterfly.

Oh goodness..I shared a bedroom with my younger sister..All I remember was her side  was a total mess..don't remember what was on "her" wall..I was no neat-nik..but I had Elvis and Frankie Avalon on my wall..there were competing music in the room..My Dad would go nuts..LOL..My Mom was just used to it.

Moved to a new home when I was 13.  Got my own room.  Wanted red carpet.  Red/white gingham bedspread and sham.  twin bed.  Painted white chest of drawers.  Not sure what I was thinking.  16 magazine pictures plastered on my large bulletin board. Probably David/Shawn Cassidy or Donny Osmond.  Guess my parents didn’t want lots of holes in the new walls.  I was more excited that I got a phone for my room.  Trim line, push button in the receiver.  🙂

When the Rolling Stones came on the scene I fell in love!  My walls were covered with photos of the Stones!!!  I also corresponded with friends from Scotland and they would mail magazines from there to add more pictures of the Stones!!!!  That was my decor!!!

Most of my "decor" consisted of posters of Paul Revere & the Raiders, Herman's Hermits, and a couple of others I can't remember right now. We moved from rental to rental, so my wall colors were generally whatever color they were when we moved in! I had some stuffed animals on my bed.
