It's on my husband's playlist but I've never contemplated the words before even though I've always enjoyed Please Come to Boston by Dave Loggins. We were coming back from friends and the song was on in the car. We stopped to do a tiny bit of shopping on the way home and as we were walking into the store I said to my husband "she was just playing him the whole time!" She professes her love through the whole song, doesn't like him moving around, which is understandable...Who wants to couch surf through life? But he finally, basically, asks her to marry him and settle down, he's even bought a house, and she still says no?! Sounds to me like she was leading him on the whole way!

I must be missing something because I've read the OP's post twice and it makes no sense to me.

Please can you correct your thread title so we can understand what you're asking?
Maybe post the lyrics too?
Thanks

I'm stayin' here with some friends and they've got lots of room
You can sell your paintings on the sidewalk
By a café where I hope to be workin' soon
Please come to Boston
She said "No - would you come home to me?"
And she said, "Hey ramblin' boy now won't cha settle down?"
"Boston ain't your kinda town"
"There ain't no gold and there ain't nobody like me"
"I'm the number one fan of the man from Tennessee"
Please come to Denver with the snowfall
We'll move up into the mountains so far that we can't be found
And throw "I love you" echoes down the canyon
And then lie awake at night till they come back around
Please come to Denver
She said "No - boy, would you come home to me?"
And she said, "Hey ramblin' boy why don't cha settle down?"
"Denver ain't your kinda town"
"There ain't no gold and there ain't nobody like me"
"'Cause I'm the number one fan of the man from Tennessee"
Now this drifter's world goes 'round and 'round
And I doubt that it's ever gonna stop
But of all the dreams I've lost or found
And all that I ain't got
I still need to lean to
Somebody I can sing to
Please come to LA to live forever
California life alone is just too hard to build
I live in a house that looks out over the ocean
And there's some stars that fell from the sky
Livin' up on the hill
Please come to LA
She just said "No - boy, won't you come home to me?"
And she said, "Hey ramblin' boy why don't cha settle down?"
"LA can't be your kinda town"
"There ain't no gold and there ain't nobody like me"
"No, no, I'm the number one fan of the man from Tennessee"
"I'm the number one fan of the man from Tennessee"

Well there you have it. He can't hold a job and roams around and she's not gonna follow him around drifting. . . Smart gal!

I interpret it to be that, in the last two verses, he's conceding to settle down and stay in one place. He realizes that he can't live without her. She makes no concession whatsoever! And she's arrogant about it! You'll never find somebody like me...
