Funny you should mention it! I haven't seen a movie in a theater in YEARS, but I'm so tired of missing events because nobody wants to go with me that I made up my mind to go catch a cheapo matinee this week and see Godzilla by myself. I'm even going to get myself a big greasy popcorn.

So there! {#emotions_dlg.lol}

You go girl!!!! If we lived closer I would be your Godzilla buddy, but I'm going solo tonight, and getting the big greasy popcorn! {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

I had the same thought when I read your post! Have you considered moving to the high desert?

Funny you should ask that actually.... since my daddy died, and he was the reason I moved here, I know I will not stay here much longer, nothing here for me but memories. I used to live in Colorado, but I've always loved the warmer climates and desert. I have considered Arizona or New Mexico, and I have semi-family in San Diego so that would put me closer. Got any recommendations for me? Smile

San Diego, Colorado, or Arizona!!! {#emotions_dlg.lol}

To be fair, I've been in New Mexico since 1995 and I stay because

1. My dog has no fleas. Fleas don't even like it here.

2. The smell of Russian olive blossoms in the spring. It's an invasive species with thorns that can kill you, but the flowers smell like candy.

3. Hot air balloons. They're everywhere.

4. I'm thinking, I'm thinking!!! Oh, yes -- the big skies. We do have some impressive sunrises and sunsets. In the afternoon, the Sandia Mountains turn pink.

5. The climate. The spring winds are awful and it's so dry it's scary, but mildew is never an issue and we do have four seasons.

It's definitely a love-hate relationship. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Re: Did anyone go to see Godzilla yet?

I went to see Godzilla this morning at 9:30 am and I loved the fact that less than ten people were in the theater. Being short, I hate it when people sit in front of me unless it's a little quiet kid. I enjoyed the movie....didn't care for wearing the 3d glasses which I had to buy for $3.50. The actor whose wife was left in the tunnel because the door had to be shut was excellent, I forget his name. The other actors were just so-so. I didn't realize til the end that Godzilla was helping the humans, lol. The special effects were excellent, too.

Okay, well I appreciate the thoughts, and I hope you don't work on the NM tourism board. {#emotions_dlg.laugh} I'm good with hot and dry and windy... trust me...living in Colorado and then Kansas, I've experienced it all. Going back to Colorado is definitely an option and would make the most sense, since that is where I grew up and have old family friends that care about me, and I could get back into my career. I can't move to San Diego...too expensive, although I would love to live there near the ocean. Part of me just wants a fresh start and Arizona or New Mexico would suit my style. I don't know what I will do yet, but again, I would be your Godzilla buddy! LOL Smile

We left Northern California in 1995 for New Mexico. We drove here because we had my 100+ pound Boxer in the car and because the rain was so heavy in LA we missed our exit and ended up in San Diego in the middle of the night.

I was so impressed with San Diego that I had to ask Better-half: "So why are we moving to Albuquerque?"

But you are correct: The place is pricey.

I lived in Prescott, AZ when I was ten and have had a soft spot for Arizona ever since. Love Mesa and Scottsdale, but it's crazy hot in AZ.

New Mexico has its charms -- and I didn't even begin to tell you about our centipedes! Ever see The Tingler?

Colorado seems like your best bet. Live there and drive down to Arizona and New Mexico to visit the majestic splendor.

You truly crack me up Just Bee!!!! I'm not fond of centipedes, but I think I can handle them over deadly spiders. We have Brown Recluse here, I've had to kill a few in my home. Nasty little buggers. I've got to get ready to head out for my date with Godzilla! Smile Wish I could take you with me. I'll eat enough greasy popcorn for both of us, promise! LOL

Glad to hear from someone we know that liked it. I might have to catch a matinee tomorrow. I've really been wanting to see it.

Re: Did anyone go to see Godzilla yet?

Oscar winner Juliette Binoche was wasted in the role of B Cranston's wife. And Godzilla wasn't in it enough for me either. All the guns & explosions & Godzilla were WAY LOUD. I enjoyed it for what it was, but won't be seeing any sequel.

Locally & in the entertainment weekly mags it is getting so-so reviews.

Re: Did anyone go to see Godzilla yet?

My granddaughter texted me awhile ago that they had just taken their seats at the movies to watch this! I'm sure my 9 yr old GS will love it!
