@rockygems123    I told you you need to get out and take some trips around your own state.  You don't know what you're missing.

It is a beautiful place to visit. And you're right @Kachina624 people need to explore our   country. So many beautiful places.

We've had a chance to explore many of the western states, including Alaska. But we have not done much traveling in the New England area. I hope to convince him we should get out to the north east coast, but he loves the wild, wild west. Smiley Happy

@kate2357    I've toured and can appreciate New England but the wild West is simply spectacular.

There are also sand dunes in Nebraska. I first saw them about 12 years ago when we were visiting friends and, boy, was I surprised to see sand dunes in the midwest.

No, I didn't know they had sand dunes.  Interesting.

Some of the sand in The Great Sand Dunes Park comes from all over the planet via the jet stream. The geology of that area acts like a funnel with wind directing the sand to pile up in one area. It's very surreal when you go there...almost otherworldly

Thanks, I was trying to figure that one out.  I thought maybe as the mountains pushed in from the ocean, the sand came from the beaches there.  So I appreciate what you said. It certainly is amazing to see in the picture.

I did not know that.  Thanks. I learned something new today.

My sister lives in Colorado and will ask her about her visit to the dunes.  I am sure she has a story or two.  She goes and does lots of things.

No, I didn't know.  I had a chance to spend about 40 days in Colorado in my teen years.

What a beautiful state it is!  I have often told DH I would like to go back and see it again!
