@cody2's thread, and @BlueFinch's post reminded me of two things.

 One was a blind date in high school. We talked on the phone every night, and when he came to pick me up, he was GORGEOUS! Sadly, after about 3 dates he broke up with me. 

The second time was more interesting. I had just finished college, and while waiting for a teaching job, had 3 part-time jobs that summer. One was working at a small airfield. The older women who worked with me were keeping their eyes on the single pilots. LOL!

I stayed late one evening to do some paperwork when the phone rang. It was a pilot calling to say he would be delayed because of weather, and could I let them know. He was probably bored, so we talked for quite a while, and he "sounded" young and cute!

A few days later I thought I heard his voice. I went up to this cute blond guy in uniform, and asked him if he finally landed the other night. The blond guy said yes,  and we chatted about flying conditions for a while. The next day he showed up in my office and asked me out. I found out he was NOT "my" pilot and his uniform was because he was an EMT. We dated for about three months. This time I broke it off, but he wasn't too upset. I once asked him why he didn't tell me he wasn't the pilot I had talked with. He said when I went up to him and started talking he was intrigued and decided to play along! 


I never did find out who "my" pilot was!  LOL!

Yes Back in the day I answered the phone and the guy on the phone asked for Pam and I decided to play along as Pam. It turned out the Pam he was looking for was someone I was in high school with.  I finally told him not Pam but he asked me out. So I went on blind date. I expected a dream boat because Pam was really cute. Sadly he was nice but no sparks and that was our only date. I don't know if he ever went out with Pam though. Lol

Not me but my boss at the time used to talk to this saleswoman all the time. He was really into her because of her sexy voice.  She finally decided to visit the office one day and turns out she about 5 foot and 250 pounds. That changed everything.

MY boss introduced me to one of HIS phone contacts (hoping I would date the guy).    He turned out to have a very fake looking glass eye... it was BIG and BULGING.   I couldn't stop STARING...   di

I don't recall meeting anyone over the phone @beach-mom , but I'm enjoying reading these posts.

As a teenager I had my own phone line. One evening I received a wrong, or random, number call from a guy and we ended having a short conversation.  He intentionally called me once more but it wasn't going to go anywhere.  I already had a boyfriend (DH).

My girlfriend and I were with an older girl once and we picked up a hitchhiker.  He invited us to his baseball game the next day.  We ended up going but didn't stay.  And that was that.  Another time I picked up a hitchhiker whom I recognized as an upperclassman.  He needed a lift to his job and it was on my way.  He said thanks but never acknowledged me in school.  

My girlfriend and I also met some locals on a trip and we hung out together with parental permission.  

I really didn't date all that much.  DH and I met I was still in high school and he was it for me. ❤️

I actually did, when I was in high school  my cousin gave someone my phone number, a few dates followed

Not in a dating sense. My first job I dealt with sales reps all over the county. The year the sales meeting was held in NY and I finally got to meet them. 75% of the faces did not match the voice
