And my favorite ex-Mariner (next to John Jaso), Brendan Ryan, has done a fantastic job at short stop. The Mariners were stupid idiots to trade him away.

I worked with his mom for many years while he was growing up, and it really, truly was his dream to be a New York Yankee. Derek and his sister Sharlee were the only kids that ever actually asked permission before they helped themselves to the candy dish in my office.

He's a great guy from an even greater family and I hope he has a fabulous farewell season!

That's so interesting that you knew Derek and his family. Good to know he was always mannerly and nice. He seems like such a gent. He will be missed, for sure.

Ok, I'm ducking from the Boorish Sox fans who wear the T-shirts and chant all the anti-Jeter stuff. They are just plain rude.

A REAL Baseball fan knows a good player when they see him even if he is the enemy.

Hope to get to see him play at Fenway this year.
