This time of the year is especially hard when you think of those you have lost, whether it be a family member, friend, pet. I lost my dear mother several years ago and while I have come to be able to bear it, the loss is still very painful and I think of her every day and miss her so much.

Shortly before Christmas of the first year of her passing, I was walking through a room in my house when I became aware of a sweet smell. It was my mother's perfume! It was the only one she wore for the last several years of her life. I did not have that perfume and nobody had been in my home that wore it. I know it was my mother reaching out to me.

I also have dreams about my mother quite often and she seems to be giving me messages. Also, I dream about my little dog that I lost quite a few years ago and I know they are both with me in spirit and always will be.

Those who have passed do reach out to us. I was quite ill and alone. My mother who had passed years before came and stayed with me until my husband arrived home from work. He did not know that I was very sick. I was unable to call for help. My mother stroked my hair. The odd thing was her appearance. She looked to be about 30 or 40 years old.

Our bulldog died last summer. She was a huge presence wherever she went and commanded any room she entered including the vet's office. I hear her make her bulldog sound. I can sense her standing behind me. My husband has these same experiences.

They are with us from time to time.

I see my departed family members often in my dreams. My mother died of Lewy's Body dementia and for the first few months she was still in a demented state in my dreams, but then she slowly improved and is now back to how she was when I was a child. It makes me wonder if we age backward, perhaps at an accelerated rate in the hereafter. She never has dementia now in my dreams of her. She's back to how she was well before that hit her. It's an interesting thing to experience.

Sounds like both your NIl and your dear kitty still weigh heavily on your mind so that's why your feel their presence. I don't think it has anything to do with the occult. We had to say goodbye to our sweet16 year-old kitty almost two years ago, I sometimes think I feel her jump up on our bed at night, and a couple of times swear I hear her meow. It is at night when I am going to bed and that's when she would do those things. I am happy for the pleasant memories of her.
we get so used to someone's presence we can feel it even when they are no longer with us.

I have always been one to find coins on the floor and ground. After returning home from my Father’s funeral, we went to a school music event my son was involved in. DH and I were walking down the school hall when I saw a shiny penny right in my husband’s path. I picked it up and it was dated the year he died, that year. At the next school event, I saw a penny back stage and picked it up. It was dated the year of my som’s Birth. Could be a coincidence, or perhaps pennies from heaven. There have been other signs too. I always knew I would miss my parents, but frankly I miss them way more than I expected to. Makes me think they missed their parents a great deal as well, though they never let on to us kids. Strange to think we will be the next ones to go, though hopefully years from now.
