I’ve had 3 dental implants over the last 7 years. I went to a well respected Peridontist who did an excellent job. It is a six month procedure. A bone graft is done to prepare the jawbone for the implant. Three months wait to be certain the graft is complete and ok to proceed. The 24 hour “implants” are not the same and it was explained to me as the previous poster said. This procedure is not to be a rushed job. Only problem I had was that when I went I had an abcess so she took care of that and I had to wait 3 months to be certain all was good and then she started the implant procedure. It was a long 9 months but worth it.

The places like Clear Choice are doing the exact same thing as oral surgeons or others that do full mouth implants. The dental technology for implants has changed in recent years. They no longer do individual implants but instead place 4 "posts" into the bone AFTER grafting if necessary. A full set of temporary teeth are then attached while the 3-4 month healing process occurs. The temporary teeth are not as strong as the permanent teeth hence the softer diet during the healing time.
Once healed the temporary teeth are removed and the permanent teeth which are supported by a titanium plate which makes them as strong as regular teeth is inserted. The only difference between these type of places and going to another specialist is they have all types of dental professionals (oral surgeons, periodontists, etc) and most importantly the lab under one roof. These places are not any less expensive.
Since full mouth replacements represent the bulk of their business it may surprise many to know these type of places pioneered the 4 on one implant technology. Forgetting the nerve damage which is a possibility anywhere, I suspect most of teeth breaking is happening to people who have the original individual implants. This is why the titanium was added, to prevent breakage, add strength and most importantly protects the bone from getting worn down in future years. They are far from Doc in the boxes. I'm sure satisfaction varies from location to location.
I have an outstanding oral surgeon whose specializes in implants who I saw again last month. There are new advances being made every year. The cost in my area is $50-$85K for everything.
Bottom line is it's not done in one day but wherever it's performed you do leave with a full set of temporary teeth while the bone heals.

My boyfriend's father married a dentist who has done a couple of implants for him at cost of materials and her assistant's time. It was a long process for each one with healing and bone growth, etc. The second one involved some work going into the sinus cavity because of where the tooth was and if that intricate work was not done the tooth would not be able to stay in.
Then I see all these "24 hour" ads on TV touting the fact that everything is all under one roof which is why they are so fast, yet bone grows as fast as bone grows. They just seem like Walmarts of implants and if I were to ever need one would steer clear of. Fast isn't always best. Not shocked these poor people are coming out with problems after likely paying big bucks and likely still paying for the implants after they have fallen out.

I'm in the process of getting dental implants by an oral surgeon......by the lengthy method. I have other implants that have been in my jaw for years.
Yeah you never see those anymore. I bet there is a back story as to why!

I'm going to have 5, maybe 6, implants put in soon. Not by one of the 'Same Day' places.

I don't know what hurt worse getting it put in or taken out. My new dentist said because my jaw cracked it never seated properly. What an expensive nightmare. Never ever ever again.
@godi Oh my!😧. Did you have any other options since the implant failed?

@SilleeMee Do you have to be on a special diet while doing the implant process?

Yes, doctor said no 'hard food'. But isn't that so subjective?? I guess I'll be asking some questions.

Have any of you had any similar problems with these types of implants? I have a single implant and it took three months to complete it because the bone has to grow around the post that is put in initially. Can't fathom how that process could be shortcut to same-day.
NEVER buy any products, especially dental implants, from SCAMMY companies, that advertise on tv. I would never do business with any doctor, dentist, lawyer - or other professional - that advertises on tv. Those are pitchmen!!!!!!
You need to find (or get a referral from a family member/friend) a qualified dentist.
When u see dental offices on the ground floor of buildings - usually called FAMILY DENTAL (or has the word family in it) --- Run!!!!!
If I didn't have a referral, I'd call the American Dental Assoc.-- and also check dentists on Yelp.Always google the dentists' names.
I once worked for MIDA Dental Plans (like Delta Dental). Many BAD dentists were on the plan - because they couldn't find patients on their own. Many had foreign names.

Many implants fail because of the incompetent dentists.
