Our local news has reported that many people who have had the same-day or "24hr" dental implants from places that advertise so much on tv are now reporting problems with nerve damage, broken teeth, and implants literally falling out of their mouths. Have any of you had any similar problems with these types of implants? I have a single implant and it took three months to complete it because the bone has to grow around the post that is put in initially. Can't fathom how that process could be shortcut to same-day.

I don't either and the dentists that perform it are docs in a box. Avoid!

You can get nerve damage no matter who does the implant, if the oral surgeon doesn't mention that he/she isn't being honest with you. My sister had 4 implants done to secure a partial bottom denture. It took over a year until all the work was complete, the teeth look good, but she has to have the one tooth on the implant replaced because the tooth is too short to secure the partial denture. I would think long and hard before I spend thousands of dollars for one tooth to be drilled into my jaw, let alone a mouth full.

Implants in general have a 5 - 10% failure rate no matter who does the work.

DH has a mouthful of implants that failed. We went to two specialists, had bone grafts, sinus lifts etc (over 6 mths). We did due diligence and they still failed, can't imagine the quick clinics! The old adage "if it looks like it's too good to be true...it is!" .

Am sorry your DH has had so many problems. Going to these quickie implant clinics sure seems to be asking for problems...now that they have been doing them for awhile now, those who were among the first patients seem to be guinea pigs...and now we can see what the end result is. I hope the lawsuit becomes class action. These patients spent thousands for this dental work and to have these problems now should be something the companies should be held accountable for.

The doctors on that commercial even look phony.
