He's using Rodman for propaganda and political reasons. He can now say that he's such a global force, that American basketball players travel all the way to Korea to visit with the Dear Leader.
Oh I agree! There has to be an ulterior motive on his part. Why else would even he like such an obnoxious being?

I know this won't be a popular opinion...but I say if this tin pot dictator like America - let's send him everything he wants...open up his country....send Kanye and Kim, Mom Kris and all the Kids. Send Sonic and McDonalds and BK...put him on the cover of the National Enquirer and Sports Illustrated.
Since the 50s, we have been talking and acting as if this tiny, impoverished country is Enemy #1. That has only caused them to escalate their paranoia to the point of developing nukes.
We forgave Germany, Japan, even Vietnam...time to thaw things with NK and Cuba.

He is crazy, but he's always been crazy. Nothing new, and I'm not sure about the fuss about him.now.
As far as NK, I agree about rapprochement, but for this to happen, there must be a change on their side. So far, doesn't look like it.
China is the country that needs to help with this. But they want a buffer from the West. Also, any disruption initially could send refugees flooding into China, something they also don't want.
So unfortunately, suffering people continue to suffer.

Posts are beginning to disappear but this regime knows exactly what they are doing by giving Rodman access over our leaders.

sadly, his brain is pickled from too much alcohol.

Friend Korea...not.
Back to the thread: Dennis is broke...needs the money and will take it from whomever he can get it from. He will even take money from a evil, murderous dictator.

Huh?
We don't WANT to have access to them! That is the problem.

Don't you just hate it when your tongue gets tangled in your earrings and the words get confussed?

Yes, I saw the interview this morning. I don't happen to be one that thinks Rodman is crazy, I think he is out to make a lot of money and publicity for himself. Rodman is pretending to be obtuse on the subject because he doesn't want to be accountable for his behavior. He back pedaled when questioned about being "friends" with Kim, and he said they aren't friends, more like acquaintances. Who is he trying to fool? He has referred to Kim as his friend many times before. Now he is trying to say that this basketball game (which is meant to be a birthday present for Kim) is all about using sports for diplomacy? Not buying it... in one breath he says it has nothing to do with politics and he doesn't want to be involved in the politics, then he says that the fact he and those 10 other former NBA players are there will some day "open doors". He is there for one reason only, and that is to collect a big hefty paycheck. He only cares about himself and money, perhaps not in that order.
It bothers me most that he got these other former players involved. They looked extremely uncomfortable during the interview. Dennis is used to being the center of a media circus, but these guys have families. I'm sure they are all being paid extremely well for this game, but at what price do you sell out on your country? They can say it's not about politics but it is. If they were there playing a basketball game with the N. Korean team any other day of the year, I could believe it was about diplomacy through sports, and wanting an opportunity to teach and share. I don't believe it for a moment when they are there to play this basketball game as a birthday present for Kim. The final straw for me is that Rodman implied that there are valid reasons for N. Korea to be holding Kenneth Bae hostage. I mean, Rodman is an American, and he sees nothing wrong with another American being held captive??? I guess as long as he gets to play his basketball game because the only thing anyone cares about is sports, according to him. I think he is a traitor and as far as I'm concerned Rodman can stay in NK and not come back.
