I'm now thinking that there might have been two men commiting this terrible crime. 

 

If there is another suspect, I'm hoping that he will be found.

I think they were just too scared to think straight, and did what he told them. If they were older maybe they'd have thought to overpower him or as someone said, take off in different directions.
