Re: Delivery from Post Office

I know it's not available every where yet, but one of the best things I ever did was sign up for Informed Delivery.  I read about it here on these boards.

There would be 2-3 days a week we weren't getting mail if it were a junk mail only day.  I guess the carrier just didn't feel like carrying it those days.

The only time we got junk mail was if there was first class included too.

Since I signed up, there hasn't been one day that mail hasn't been delivered.  It's like they now know you are watching them.

They don't include packages yet in the daily e-mail but like the O/P said, there are other ways to track packages.

Re: Delivery from Post Office

I have the informed delivery and several times, when I have packages coming, my phone will ding letting me know that my package has arrived and supposedly in my mailbox. Go out to the box and nothing. A whie later the mail carrier will swing by and put that package in my mailbox. Life is good.

Re: Delivery from Post Office

First of all, I have always been a champion for the PO and have never not received a package...until now.  I was in NYC for Christmas and had to send a box of gifts and purchases home as too much for my luggage.  Shipped Dec 28 from Williamsburg PO and never arrived to me in CA.  Tracking showed as undeliverable and returned to sender (my daughter's address)  However, she only received the label from the carton with part of the cardboard box attached with a letter that said box was damaged. Address was perfectly clear, just no longer attached to the package!  of course you cannot ever speak to anyone, it is all automated and I was so frustrated and angry at the loss/damage of my package. Now begins the attempt at recovery and I am less than hopeful.  I had to submit an itemized list and detailed descriptions item by item (I forgot a few things since I did not have a written list of the contents)  A few things I had purchased vintage at re-sale shops so not able to replace even if I wanted to.  At least my local PO answers the phone and said this may take a while since the recovery process is for the entire nation.  I am hoping my stuff is together and not scattered  and I will get everything back but I strongly doubt it at this point. Meanwhile all I can do is wait.

Re: Delivery from Post Office

Ya I have told many problems with my mail carrier!  I get other peoples mail almost weekly....had the same thing happen with a priority mail/signature required package.  Waiting and waiting on it....see it as out for delivery....see mailman come to my mailbox....do the rest of the area and leave.  Never comes to my door....check all doors no package....check box....no package!  Check online for status....says delivered and someone signed for it too!

Had to drive up to post office and speak to the delivery supervisor....she had to call him on his phone and he had to back track to my home pronto!  He had forgotten to leave it the mailbox which isn't what he was supposed to be doing as it required a signature!  So he signed it and drove off with it.

I have had other packages if they are crushable....he will push them/crush them in as big and as many as possible.  My husband went out a few months ago and couldn't believe what he saw....it stunned him....he even took a photos of it all hanging all out of the box!

Husband now believes me when I told him we have a issue here with mail carrier!

Re: Delivery from Post Office

I know our mail lady quite well since I do a lot of mailing using USPS click n ship.

One day I see her come by deliver our "mailbox" mail and hours later she's delivering my package ...so I asked her why.

She said all mailbox size mail/packages are delivered first then large (ones she needs to put at front door) after regular mail.

not sure why but that's the way they do it here.

Re: Delivery from Post Office

If you can’t get your post office to respond, you can file an online complaint at USPS.com. This was the only way I got my post office to talk to me about an issue.
