Not sure if it's already been said here, but I think a death certificate is public knowledge.

Maybe it's different from state to state. In Georgia a death certificate is considered a confidential record and can only be requested by members of the deceased's immediate family.

That's great that it's confidential in your system @50Mickey as I think it should be everywhere I'm not even sure about my state

i saw this thread a few days ago and didn't think much of it until today.  On CNN today, they reported a financial chief of a Daimler Truck company died on Saturday in a "tragic incident"    That is the only explanation of his death.  Not a "accident" but an incident.  The gentleman was 52 and leaves a wife and 2 children.

Even if we are curious, it is no one's business what the cause of death is unless the family chooses to share that info. I respect the family's privacy. I know I would desperately want my privacy, especially if the death was unexpected.

@Trailrun23

If they want to keep it fairly low profile, I'm guessing the family, any family, uses Facebook for announcements.  No need to put an obit in the papers anymore.

@Tinkrbl44 No not all families share on facebook. . . I can't imagine depending on Facebook to notify if you are holding sevices especially.

I've always wondered what Kathleen Kirkwood died of.

I always thought she looked so fit and healthy on tv, her death was a big shock to me.
