Speaking of changing behavior, I didn't know some people were so irritated by covid threads.

I am still interested in covid, but I will try to start my threads on the Wellness section.  People who go to Wellness expect such threads, I would think.

@Greeneyedlady21 I think politics seeps into discussions because it just means power and use of resources.  Pretty general, really.  On the other hand, so many people see it hiding behind every thread because it is often in their thoughts and on their TV.

I choose not to look for politics in comments.  As for comments people see as baiting--I choose to take people as literally meaning the words they write.  The comments seem less sinister that way.

I know I am tired of them. Mainly because it's been over a year of the same threads hashing and rehashing the same stuff over and over again that we all know by now.  All the usual  "wear a mask and social distance"  and starting threads to scold  and lecture all who don't follow the guidelines.  And then the "data dumpers" as I call them who always post the latest stats of infections, deaths, who has the vaccine and who hasn't. This usually leads to a disagreement as another will post different numbers so the back-and-forth arguing ensues.

Remind me, @Kachina624, what was the original question?  Reading thru this thread reminds me of playing the game "gossip" when I was a kid (back when my pet dinosaur walked to school with me).

Going to be a nice day today.  Chilly, but lots of sunshine.  After days of dark clouds and rain, the sunshine makes everything a little brighter.   My daffodils have been blooming over a week, and my plum trees are in full bloom this morning.  Just getting thru each day, one at a time.

@tototwo    The original question was what have you done lately that might be interesting or noteworthy.  That's really a broad topic so people have interpreted it differently.

Where I live, we have sunshine almost every day.  Gloominess is a rare treat.

@KKJ   You have every right to express this, too.

Nobody here ever said that they wanted COVID threads to be removed, either, as stated before.

I'm just as interested in COVID-19 but I agree that the threads just became a rehash of the same posts; multiples of the same on every thread.

We all know we can bypass but that isn't the point.

It's becoming too restrictive to express an opposing pov; and not by the mods.

Well, @Kachina624 , my question was rhetorical -- but obviously I haven't done anything interesting or noteworthy.  It's been a wandering thread.  Thanks.

Given that our social distancing has kept us close to home and the narrowed range of topics allowed here, with few exceptions, that garner opposing viewpoints that are often squashed for being argumentative, it's no wonder there is little activity.

When any back and forth of opinions on topics other than bedroom wall color are branded argumentative and tossed, it leaves the door wide open for posters who know how to shut down a discussion (because they don't like a poster or the direction the post is going) via political innuendo or rudeness. In this way the mods are used by the poster to support their agenda of getting rid of viewpoints they don't like--it's a form of manipulation that contributes to the stagnation here.

Wouldn't it be a great world if everyone just followed the golden rule? I'm facing the facts.  That isn't going to happen.  Knowing that...... keeps me from being shocked. I've been here a long time. Nothing here really surprises me. I'm not trying to say I can't be hurt, disgusted, frustrated, or angry.   I think most of us have felt that way at one time or another here on these boards.

The more we react to some people, the more they seem to seek us out. You may have noticed that.  I see that here often. There are a whole lot of people these days looking for a good fight.  I refuse to give it to them.  I've posted  here  several times  something my Dad used to say to me when I  would get my feelings hurt at school.  He would say, "Don't let them see where you tie your goat".   I have found that to be very good advice over the years.  I see nothing wrong with a good debate but there are people who simply cannot or will not play fair.  To continue to engage them in conversation is like shooting yourself in the foot and that is on you.
