Old drivers of the past=Gentleman Bill Elliott. Drivers of this era=Penske Team/Brad Keselowski/Joey Logano.

Raced only Ford Motor Cars and cheer for only Ford Motor Cars. Ain't breaking a pledge I made to myself when I started racing in 1956.

And some people say Race Car Drivers are not Athletes? Try bumper to bumper driving at 200mph. Lose focus for a fraction of a second? Could be a tragedy. Lose focus in the NFL or NBA?  Miss a pass or miss the hoop? And all this in a race car so hot you get blisters on your feet without moving them?

Got the DVR rolling for later tonight?

Wow John--didn't know you were such an athlete!!  Glad to hear you're a Ford guy....

Yep, started auto racing at age 16. Drag Racing on NHRA Sanctioned drag strips around the Midwest. Raced for over 15 years, always Fords or a Mercury. Drag race cars were primarily Chevies until Chrysler Motors decided to jump into it.

Auto Racing got to be too expensive and as a single guy working 4 to midnight Monday thru Friday? No way I was going to work more hours to support my hobby, the night shifts already took away a lot of my social life, GIRLS!

So I changed my hobby into a different type of racing, which was running Road Races, the kind where your motor is your heart, and your wheels were your 2 feet. Ran over 1,000+ races from distances of 1 mile to the 26.2 mile full marathon, and most distances in between

Played hockey in the winter and ran races in the spring and summer. At times they overlapped and I did both. Was a hockey referee for over 30 years, from Mite League(5 to 8 year olds) through College and Adult Leagues. Ran my own Adult League for 52 years, missing only 1 game, when I was in the hospital.

Nebraska Winter Olympics Speed Skating Competition in over 50 age group. These were 100 meter/200 meter and 400 meter races. Mostly Gold and a few Silver Medals. Really a lot of pride and fun winning them.

I just don't know how to quit rambling, sorry and thank you for your comment.

=^..^=
