I know some like it and some don't. So I'll just ask, What will you do with more daylight in the evening?

In the past I've always enjoyed riding later. In the summer it's cooler and more comfortable heading out in the evening. Less sweating and sticking to the saddle, and no more dismounting only to feel like my jeans are soaking wet!

Actually DST has nothing to do with more daylight in the evening.  The position of the sun causes that during certain times of the year....

I like the longer lighter days.  I stay outside longer gardening, swimming, boating, camping and just going out...I am not comfortable driving in the dark.

Speing, summer and fall are my favorite times of the year, especially summer.

@Carmie

What (DST) does is it shifts the clock forward by one hour, effectively moving daylight from the morning (when temperatures are cooler) to the evening ( when temperatures are still warm from the heat of the day)

It really doesn't matter what time the clock says. Mother Nature will do her thing.  It will still be hotter or cooler during the day/night as usual.

You cannot change anything with moving the clocks forward or backwards except the time.

During the summer solstice, the earth is tilted toward the sun.  The solstice in June has more daylight than any other day of the year in our hemisphere.

From that day forward we lose about two minutes of daylight until the winter solstice, which is in January, which is the darkest day if the year. Then we add about two minutes of daylight every day again until June.

I don't know where you live, but here in PA it is hot and humid as hello all summer long and doesn't cool down at night.  We run our AC 24/7 all summer long.

I've been thinking that, if possible, to let each state decide.

I have a feeling that hot climates prefer the present time; and maybe cooler climates or West coastal folks would prefer DST so they could sit on their decks and enjoy the daylight longer.  ?

Just a thought.........

Anyone here have any comments re: letting each state decide what they would prefer?

definitely going to miss my early nights. i do not like DST at all.

so wish we could stay on STANDARD TIME year round.

not sure if the "added daylight" in the evening alters anything i normally do at this stage of my life.

Yes, I think it's a recipe for disaster.

What if 37 states decided to keep DS and the other states didn't want it?

I think it would confuse delivery routines and schedules.

Sometimes important legal deadlines are to have something in by 5pm.   Five PM where?

Various states doing various things is just too chaotic.  Keep it or don't keep it, but the entire coulntry should be on the same DS schedule, whatever it is.

I love it. I just love it.  When dark times comes in Nov, I get used to it after a few days, and it doesn't bother me too bad for a couple months. By January I am ready for DST!!!   I am tired of the dark so early, and th long nights. lol. I can enjoy the yard more, read outside later, and the fish love it in the pond

Tinkrbelle:  Yes, that (what you posted) makes a lot of sense!

Here, there are people who live in one time zone and work in another because of the way our state is divided.  It makes life complicated for them. That would be a real possibility between states as well for people who live close to a state border.

I agree, @Tinkrbl44, pick one or the other and keep it.  I personally like DST, but I'd go for whichever one makes more sense economically speaking.  People will get used to it.

I don't like it.

I'd rather have more light earlier in the day than at night.

I just wish we would have the same time all of the year. I don't care if is DST or not.

My mom always made an interesting comment---- wouldn't it make more sense to do Daylight Saving Time in the WINTER to delay the darkness then instead of having it get dark at 430 PM! .????...Makes more sense to me 🤔

Agree. Instead of stopping it in November and starting it in March, maybe if we have to keep it, they need to rethink it.
