So he's off to his condo in FL yet again. I know that he said he's not leaving qvc, but since the q "merged" with hsn, could he possibly be thinking of switching to hsn? Just a thought. I know he loves the warm weather.

Interesting observation. I don't really follow David but it's a genuine possiblilty. Maybe with all that's ocurred over the last few weeks, he may be feeling he needs a change. Happens to the best of us. I still wish HSN was a separate company, it was better with competition.

I think he's an irreplaceable fixture here at QVC. He's a superstar and since HSN and QVC belong to the same parent company, jumping to HSN isn't possible. I think he gets a lot of vacation time. He uses that to go bask in the sun and rejuvenate. Also when QVC does blocks of specialty programming like fashion or beauty, he has some time to get away.

" off to FL yet again" ??? Are you serious ?? He's entitled to any vacation days in his contract. Never understand the people obsessed with DV and QVC.

I think David is a well-respected fixture at QVC. When I told my husband two hosts were laid off his comment was, "Surely they didn't let that kitchen guy go."
I saw David on the Rachael Ray Show. He was far more eloquent and composed than she or the male chef she had appearing that day. I think we sometimes underestimate the talent hosts must posess to appear live every day of their workweek. It is not an easy task.

Just my conjecture, but I think David's bored and seeing the handwriting on the wall (sorry for the cliche). He is immensely talented and his skills are not used properly here on the Q. Forget the big money he must get -- I think he is re-thinking his career and why not?
Wouldn't be surprised if he's had other offers and may act on them. Just my opinion.

I agree @zitawins . David does seem bored on many of his shows. (and I also am getting bored watching his shows. I can actually change the channel now. Something I would not have done before) How can he not with the same ole, same ole products every time on his shows. He is a smart guy. I would not put it past him to be looking at all other opportunities that come his way. He can see how badly qvc is doing just like we all can.

Anticipating eagerly the perfunctory complaint about David being off again (how dare he) and "That Woman" Mary filling in!

I bet he retires if/when Qurate goes dark...
He's 58.
I retired at 57 and never looked back, and wouldn't go back to work for ANY amount of money...hopefully he's saved and invested and can do the same.
Life is short. If you CAN do it, DO IT!!! (Retire or cut back).
And he could do infomercials or news or weather ..but that's all still WORK.
QVC ( and HSN) are moving AWAY from home goods ( according to thier latest report)...except for ( and this is a bad sign, but explains a LOT) FLOOR CARE!!
They just let go Shannon Smith...didn't she do most of the cooking shows on HSN?
We forget, I think, that we see these hosts only a few hours at a time...but they still have meetings, preparation, wardrobe, makeup, crazy hours each week, sometimes twice a day appearances, on top of all the general stuff we ALL did when we worked...get ready, commute, feed the cat, walk the dog, make arrangements for the kids stuff....Whew!!!
And they have to push stuff that bores US to tears, for hours and hours...imagine selling that stuff!! We can switch the channel at least!!!
If he sells his place in West Chester PA ( the most expensive county in PA) he could take the money and run.
Standing in front of a camera for hours at a time MUST get old after a while.....and age isn't a huge selling point in that business...
I think he's planning to retire.
As for vacation "again"? Good for him. He's there THIRTY YEARS...he BETTER have some vacation time!!!

Many people here in PA have second places in warmer areas or even beach houses in NJ, DE, NC, SC or FL.
I think nothing of it. My parents had a place in NJ. My SIL has a place in NJ. My BIL has a place in DE as does my brother. My sister has her place in FL. My husband and I are more modest spenders. Our summer place in here in PA.
Most of our friends have second places too. Some have houses, some condos and others mobile homes.
I don't read anything into David having a condo in Florida.
