Daughter's friends at Charles' Garden Party comments

I am visiting with my daughter and listened in on a Skype chat she had with 8 of her friends in U.K. today - 4 of them together with their husbands were attendees at the Garden Party - they were all very excited and enthusiastic.  Age group mid 30's professional people all working.   All living in London.

Main remarks were how in love Harry & Meghan were, lovely looking, etc but all thought Harry has married a 'mother' figure as she was definitely in charge and 'he seems to need that as since he lost his mother he has been lost - going 'wild' at times unlike William who is tougher she seemed to guide him not the other way around'.  Their remarks not mine.

I was not part of the discussion but it did make me think another viewpoint as Harry, I think, is very sensitive and probably listening to these young people made some sense to me.  I think Meghan has her hands full but also she will cope as she looks determined.

I think he might have fallen in love with her , because she is different, She didn't grow up among the Brits ,,and perhaps, him being royal ,didn't phase her at all. He might have liked that

She  is a strong lady, and I think respects their traditions, enough to make them hers. She is wearing tights, and looks like she was born to wear a hat...I think she will be the making of him, in much the way the Queen Mother was with her husband

No disrespect intended at all @dulwich☺ but did they make those comments based upon personal contact with Harry and Meghan?I read that there were over 6,000 people there from various charities. So I don't see how anyone could see them or observe them that closely.

Also-that must be one big garden😆

@cherry  It was nice listening to these young people so happy and rooting for Harry & Meghan.  She looked  so 'royal' in her garden party outfit which, to me, says I am doing my duty.  Bet they will be glad now to get away, put on their denims and relax - kudos to Meghan.

@Greeneyedlady21  Yes two of the couples shook hands and were spoken to were close enough to see some interaction - the other two were in the Charles' section.

Harry seems like a sweet boy-man, but the assessment of who seems to be in charge doesn't surprise me nor does the theory that he was smitten by her differences compared to what he is used to. Whether she'll be the making of the man or whether it'll all unravel remains to be seen.

I get the same vibe from Dale Earnheart Jr and his wife Amy.  I think she is the adult in the relationship.  She basically took over where his sister left off as his gatekeeper.

I have read this also- Meghan is the confident one, self-assured and essentially the brains behind the operation. She complements his personality. He mentioned during his speech that he was so proud of how gracefully she handled everything and that together they make a great team.

If you have a chance to read excerpts from Andrew Morton's Meghan: A Hollywood Princess, it's quite eye opening, especially the juicy tidbits about her first marriage to Trevor Engelson and why it went bust.

@bathina   I have never read any of the books on the Royals but the one you mention sounds interesting.  Thanks.

I think she will take over and boss him about. Now he's going alone wanting to please her but, just like in the interview where she took over answering until he finally said that the question was for him, in time he will have had enough. I also think there will arise tension between her and Kate and that will cause discord between Harry and William.
