I think a lot of kids are feeling that way right now. It's towards the end of the semester and she's probably tired of the routine. My daughter is stressed with all the projects, homework, studying, working and club meetings. Somehow she does it though.
I say, finish the semester, she has time to focus this summer on what she wants to do.

Speaking in general terms, not professions like medicine, law, etc: Most employers today want starting hires to just have a bachelors degree in any field, & some in a related field. It simply demonstrates that the individual has the discipline to complete projects. I know someone with a BS in Political Science who's always worked in the arts.
Many, many occupations would consider a degree in Psychology acceptable. I'd suggest that the student visit her school's career services office to find out what kinds of jobs she would qualify for. I do wish her the best of luck.

You know, I think she is going through as a Junior, what most freshmen go through because in effect she IS a freshman, new school, away from home etc_ I think it will pas, but honestly, if she wants a psychology major, she is really going to HAVE to go to graduate school-
I worked at a University Medical School for 17 years and I can honestly tell you that those with only a 4 year education were the ones in the office answering phones, not running programs...

The 'problem is' that she isn't doing so well, grade-wise in this field. So, that would be my concern right now. I wouldn't want to plow through, doing 'not so good' in my major. 'Barely making it', etc. is not exactly what a future employer would want.

p.s. I've taken a lot of classes that I truly disliked (and they were very difficult, for me, anyway), yet my grades were very high in those classes.

Good idea. Every field/career is run as a business, no matter what!

I hate to say this but bachelor degrees in psychology are a dime a dozen.

I have a degree is psychology, and an advanced degree in social work. It is a very useful field if you want to get into sales.
It helps you uncover the needs and wants of your clients.
It is useful in any field involving interaction with people. Plus, when applying for work, a lot of places just want a college degree...no matter in what field.

terrior...I'm not saying it isn't useful in some fields...specifically HR and other areas where good people skills and people interaction is high on the list.
With that said...there are a lot of people who get a degree in psychology who never actually use that degree in the way they envisioned their future/post grad life to be....and the ones I know with degrees in this field are not doing anything related to their degree.
Even MBA's are becoming a dime a dozen.
Specialized degrees in high tech skills like programming, engineering, computer sciences, etc. are what many companies are looking for....these are in high demand and many times filled by foreigners because there are not enough graduates with these types of degrees here in America.
